Some of Walt Disney World Resort’s most valuable assets are its Cast Members. Imagineers may build beautiful and unique attractions, and those in Hollywood may craft fantastic animations, stories, and movies.

The Value of Cast Members
But no matter how well your rides and shows are or how magical and wondrous your intellectual properties may be, no one will want to come to a theme Park where they are treated poorly. Or as Walt Disney once put it, “You can design and create and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.”
Sometimes this needs to be remembered as the Walt Disney Company and parkgoers often underappreciate the magic a Cast Member can bring.
New Costumes
It has recently been announced that new costumes are coming for Cast Members who work at The Seas with Nemo and Friends AND the new Journey of Water attraction at EPCOT. These new outfits contain breathable and comfortable tops, helping ensure a more pleasant costume-wearing experience for Cast Members who work at one of the hottest and most humid places in the United States.

These new costumes are also designed to be more environmentally friendly and versatile because they can be worn for both attractions. The shirts contain a wave detail on the sleeves that will be only visible when rolled up (when working at Moana) and then can be rolled down when working at The Seas with Nemo and Friends.
These comfortable Disney Cast Member costumes starkly contrast with what former (and some current) Cast Members must wear. Having worked at the Walt Disney World Resort many years ago, I can confirm that some of even the most basic costumes are not necessarily breathable nor comfortable to wear. Cast Members should never be wrapped up in a scratchy, stuffy, hot, polyester outfit like they are a baked potato.

After all…Cast Members should be treated like friends (to us all) and not food.
