The Walt Disney Company really wants the newest live-action adaptation of its classic theme park attraction, Haunted Mansion, to come out on top at the box office. They’ve employed unique marketing tactics like pairing up with State Farm and having the film’s A-List actors work the ride at Disneyland. This Haunted Mansion cast ASMR video is the newest, and perhaps strangest marketing for the Disney film yet…
ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It is a phenomenon where individuals experience a tingling, relaxing, or comforting sensation that typically starts at the scalp and travels down the back of the neck and spine. ASMR is often triggered by specific auditory or visual stimuli, such as whispering, tapping sounds, gentle touch, or repetitive motions. Many people find ASMR videos or audio helpful for relaxation, stress relief, or insomnia, as they can induce a pleasant tingling sensation.
While the exact causes and mechanisms behind ASMR have yet to be fully understood, the audio-sensitive videos are wildly popular and all over TikTok. The videos usually show people talking very quietly and manipulating different objects very close to a microphone to create different sound sensations. While it can be relaxing, it’s also a little spooky.
Disney, surely wanting to find an on brand way to market to younger generations, saw the opportunity for the Haunted Mansion cast ASMR.
Actors Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, and Danny DeVito sat down to give ASMR a try. Over the two-minute video, the cast whispers things like “foolish mortals” into the microphones, tears apart fabric, pops bubble wrap, and plays with matches. They clearly aren’t as advanced as some TikTokers, but Danny Devito really goes for it and hilariously entertains.

If Danny DeVito’s match-blowing-out face didn’t convince you to go see Haunted Mansion at the end of July, then I don’t know what will…
