Walt Disney World may be the Most Magical Place on Earth, but that doesn’t stop guests from acting inconsiderately toward each other…

Guests have been known to act selfishly, and we can understand the thought process behind it. After all, a visit to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, or EPCOT can be so expensive and tiring. It’s easy to forget that the other visitors have spent just as much money, time, and energy to make the Walt Disney World vacation happen.

It’s not uncommon to see guests using flash photography during a dark ride or to hear someone talking through a pre-show. While this is all inconsiderate, the dreaded Disney line-cutting is the worst behavior.

From “it’s a small world” to the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, it’s not uncommon for one guest to wait in line and for the rest of their party to catch up to them, skipping the crowd who have spent their time waiting in line.

It’s easily one of the most infuriating things that can happen at Disney… which is why we’re delighted to report on this sign we saw outside of Animal Kingdom’s Avatar Flight of Passage attraction:

This sign reads:

“Attention: All members of your party must be present when entering the queue. Please see a cast member for assistance should you need to exit the queue for any reason.”

Disney’s sign clearly discourages guests from catching up with the place-holder member of their party. However, it’s no secret that this is incredibly difficult to enforce once in line.

That being said, while waiting in line for Animal Kingdom’s DINOSAUR attraction, I witnessed a Cast Member in action, stopping a few guests from the dreaded Disney line-cutting procedure.

So, this leads us to wonder: is Walt Disney World finally doing something about line-cutting? It seems that way so far. Hopefully, this behavior continues to be discouraged, eventually stopping it once and for all.

Do you think it’s ok to allow your party to catch up with you later in line or is that cutting? Let us know in the comments.

  1. It’s about time. I have been in line with my family when a whole group comes by saying they have to catch up with their family. NO. You all wait outside until your group arrives!

  2. Disney Law Abiding Momma

It definitely is NOT ok!!!! Grown men pushing me and my family from behind to “catch up” with their family is beyond criminal. It’s the foreigners who are always doing it and then they pretend like they don’t understand when you call them out on it. It’s not that hard to place employees in the line queues to enforce this, or at least have security cameras with speakers. I emailed customer service about this issue last week because it’s non-stop now, along with the guests using their phone flash the entire time on Haunted Mansion because they video the entire thing. Enough is enough- DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT DISNEY!!

  3. Only if it’s a child who had to go to the bathroom. I’ve traveled with children. When they have to go, it’s pretty certain they want to go NOW. I would gladly allow a mother or a father with a child to cut in line to be with their family.

  4. I don’t feel like it’s ‘Line cutting’ when people need to catch up with their family. Every time I’ve let people pass me, I’ve seen them later in the queue with the people they went to meet up with. It doesn’t delay my ride enough to worry about. Why get upset over people wanting to be with their family members? This is supposed to be the happiest place on earth!! We should all be kind and understanding of others. It might be different if you were letting 20 people in but it’s usually only a couple people. I don’t have a problem with letting a couple people pass me at all.
