Star Wars fans were blown out of the water this week when an episode on Disney+ totally caught them off guard. Multiple TV shows on the family-oriented streaming service have extended the breadth of the Star Wars universe with high acclaim. But one person took to social media to break the silence surrounding the most recent episode of Ahsoka asking, “Are we all just going to ignore the nude scene?”
(This post contains slight spoilers for Dave Filloni’s highly-praised Ahsoka series on Disney+ as well as Star Wars animated shows.)
In the most recent episode of Ahsoka, viewers were in for a shocking scene involving A-list actress and series star, Rosario Dawson. Dawson plays the titular character Ahsoka, who was introduced in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. As a Padawan of pre-Vader Anakin Skywalker, she fights in the Clone Wars until she is framed for murder.
Eventually exonerated but disillusioned by the Jedi Order, Ahsoka decides to leave only to return in the next animated series Star Wars Rebels. In this series, she guiltily realizes that Anakin has become Darth Vader, and eventually duels him. Live-action-wise, Dawson first appears as Tano in Pedro Pascal’s The Mandalorian on Dinsey+, looking for Grand Admiral Thrawn, one of the most powerful and high-ranking imperial officers – which brings us to her solo series.
Episode 5 of Ahsoka, entitled “Shadow Warrior,” shows Ahsoka awakening after losing a battle in a world between worlds where she finds a phantasm of Anakin. After reminiscing together, Anakin makes her fight his dark side self, helping her let go of her guilt for her fallen friend. Toward the middle of the episode, after escaping the “world between worlds” Ahsoka is found by New Republic pilots – cue the “nude” Star Wars scene.
Ahsoka awakes WITHOUT her headband and normal warrior garb, and the nudity shook some unexpecting fans. Seeing the character in such a vulnerable state made some viewers feel like they were experiencing an intimate moment that they weren’t supposed to see. On Facebook, one fan said, “It just somehow felt improper to see her without her headband on— like she was immodest without it.”
Fans joked calling her “Baldsoka” without the iconic headband and were rudely reacquainted with the fact that Ahsoka is not a human character. Fans were reminded that she has no ears and may even sports a pair of gills. Viewers gasped and admittedly thought things like: “Her head is naked!”
Fans lightheartedly poked fun at being thrown off by this “nude” Star Wars scene but felt a kinship with Ahsoka after seeing her without her usually tough exterior. It turns out that a simple headpiece can make a startling difference when it comes to seeing a Star Wars character out of their element.
Have you been keeping up with the new series? What are your feelings about Ahsoka episode 5?

Of course, nobody EVER mentioned the fact that Chewbacca always ran around naked.
