Actor Jonathan Majors has been all over the news due to criminal assault and domestic violence allegations that have really put a dent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s development plans. Majors joined the prolific franchise in the season one finale of Loki on Disney Plus as Kang the Conqueror, a big Marvel Comics villain.

What’s happened so far…
While Majors’ legal team has vehemently denied the allegations, reports show that Majors was recently dropped by his talent representation amidst the controversy. This led audiences to feel that the allegations must be true. Check out Disney Dining’s coverage of that story HERE.
Complications are only increasing in this case as more alleged victims have come forward. Majors was arrested in March after the original victim, a 30-year-old woman in New York, accused him of strangulation. According to the New York Police Department, she “sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.”
New Information
According to Variety, now multiple alleged abuse victims are working with the Manhattan D.A. office on this case. This doesn’t bode well for Jonathan Majors.
On the day of Majors’ arraignment, Broadway actor Tim Nicolai tweeted, “A bunch of us are close with people (and sometimes multiple people) he has directly harmed. I don’t know if they will speak on it. It is completely their decision.” The New York acting community seems to know details that have yet to be released to the public.
Not only did we learn there are almost certainly more victims coming forward, but Disney confirmed that the original victim actually worked on Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023). Jonathan Majors brought Kang to the big screen for the first time, setting up the character’s arc in Marvel’s next phase of feature films. This means the alleged abuse involved not one but two workers on their set.

What Loki season two can tell us…
Despite the controversy, Disney Plus’ Loki JUST announced it will return for season two in mid-2023. According to one of the show’s stars, Owen Wilson, audiences can expect it by the end of summer or September. Jonathan Majors has already filmed Kang’s scenes for Loki’s sophomore season.
With a release date right around the corner, a reshoot is unlikely. Is Jonathan Majors safe? What does this mean for the Kang Dynasty storyline?
Everyone is waiting to see how Disney and Marvel handle their social responsibility amidst the developing information.
