Stan Lee Documentary
Disney+

Stan Lee, the beloved co-creator of dozens of Marvel characters, passed away at the end of 2018 at the age of 95. Until his death, he also made a number of fun cameos in Marvel Studios films about his comic book characters. Fans unfamiliar with the origin of their favorite superheroes soon looked forward to seeing their creator pop into the cinematic world.

His last cameo was in Avengers: End Game (2019), but now, Stan Lee will grace our screens once again in a documentary about his life! Check out a compilation of his cameos in the official announcement video Marvel posted for the documentary:

In the announcement, Marvel wrote, “100 years of dreaming. 100 years of creating. 100 years of Stan Lee.”

Lee’s documentary will stream on Disney Plus on June 16 after debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Marvel announced the documentary on December 28, 2022, which would have been Stan Lee’s 100th birthday. It will celebrate his near century-long existence from his childhood in New York City to the creation and success of Marvel Comics.

Stan Lee began his career in 1941 and created iconic characters such as Spider-Man, all of The Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Thor and Loki, Nick Fury, Black Panther, Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, and more.

Movieweb.com suggests that fans look forward to seeing how Stan Lee’s influence shaped a generation of comic book lovers and generations more of moviegoers. It will be interesting to see how his peers describe working with him because Lee always appeared charismatic and full of life on screen.

What did Stan think of his own work and his characters’ wild, worldwide success? Stan Lee wanted to write novels – did he regret not doing so? True fans want to see Lee outside of his widely distributed footage and seen behind the curtain into the man he really was day to day.

Hopefully, Disney Plus’ original documentary of his life doesn’t gloss over his flaws because people want to see what made him human. After all, thanks to him, we have plenty of other heroes.

About Lana Porter

Lana has never lost a Disney Trivia night. Maybe it’s the hundreds of times she’s been to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, her love for Disney’s ’90’s era hand-animated musicals, or the fact that she’s often likened to cartoon characters, but Disney and its magic have a special place in her heart. Her favorite Disney experiences include the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, eating Mickey Bars on the PeopleMover, and crying during the Magic Kingdom fireworks show. One day she hopes to be chosen as the rebel spy on Star Tours. When Lana isn’t Park Hopping, she’s at home reading books of all topics, watching her favs on Disney+, or snuggling her two cats, which she swears are not named after Disney characters. She loves surprising people with her knowledge of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but admits she is still catching up with Star Wars. She is happy to combine her excitement for writing with her love for Disney-style storytelling and share what she can with the world!
