Release Date Finally Announced for New Disney+ Series!

Disney+ is known for some fantastic original content, and their newest streaming series is crafted for a specific, devoted audience. Hold onto your hats, Muppets fans, because The Muppets Mayhem hits the platform on May 10!

Check out the 30-second teaser trailer Disney dropped on their official Twitter account on April 4:

The trailer dramatically states, “For the past 45 years, one band has continued to rock, continued to roll, and continued to bring the mayhem!”

Jim Henson’s Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, and their friends have been around since the ‘70’s! The Muppets Mayhem focuses specifically on the rockstars of the Muppet series, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem band. Electric Mayhem is a Muppet musical group that made their debut in 1975 on the inaugural episode of The Muppet Show.

The human cast includes Canadian YouTuber and former late-night host Lily Singh as Nora and, Disney alum Tahj Mowry as Gary. The Muppet line up of course includes Dr. Teeth, Animal, Sgt. Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot, and Lips, trying to go platinum in the world of the present-day music industry. Adam F. Goldberg, one of the executive producers, tweeted that the team wrapped filming on season one in August of last year. Other executive producers include Bill Barretta, Michael Bostick, Kris Eber, David Lightbody, and Leigh Slaughter.

The Muppets Mayhem Disney+ trailer begins with shots of an adoring, packed crowd shining their phone flashlights toward the stage. We see a switchboard, tapping feet, and some close-ups of familiar felt fingers. The Electric Mayhem then stands blankly facing forward after someone off camera says, “Action.” Mowry stands in the background as crickets chirp. There are two quick shots with Lily Singh, that go by too fast to register.

With some killer vocals, the trailer ends with Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem promising (in song form) to “Rock on!” Animal echoes this sentiment as only he can.

Muppets fans, rejoice! There is only about one month between you and the release of The Muppets Mayhem series on Disney+! On May 10, EVERY episode will be available to stream, so you can binge the content all at once if your heart desires.
