Disney Releases First Look at ‘Muppets Mayhem” Series Coming to Disney+
Calling all Muppets fans! A brand-new series featuring the band comprised of Muppets, called Electric Mayhem, is coming to the Disney+ streaming platform, and we’ve got all the details about the new series here.
We previously reported on the new series, called The Muppets Mayhem, which brings the famous Muppets band back together, this time on Disney+. The new live-action musical comedy series follows The Electric Mayhem Band–which includes Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd, Janice, Zoot, and Lips–as they set out on a journey filled with music and adventure. They’re recording their first-ever album.
Along the way, they’ve got a few friends to help them out and share in the adventure, including Lilly Singh and Tahj Mowry. Their first stop is the beach, as you can see from the band’s most recent tweet:
The Muppets Mayhem was developed by Adam F. Goldberg, Bill Barretta, and Jeff Yorkes, and represents the latest thing to come from The Muppets Studio on the Disney+ streaming platform since The Muppets Haunted Mansion, which became available on Disney+ in October 2021.
Disney had this to say about the new Muppets-themed series:
“After 45 years of rockin’ out, The Electric Mayhem goes on an epic musical journey to finally record their first studio album. With the help of a [human] driven young music executive, Nora (Singh), the old-school Muppet band comes face to face with the current-day music scene as they try to finally go platinum.”
Saara Chaudry (The Mysterious Benedict Society, Holly Hobbie) and Anders Holm (Workaholics, Inventing Anna) also star in the upcoming series.
The series, titled “The Muppets Mayhem,” will follow the band as they try to record their first-ever album. Lilly Singh will star as Nora, the human junior A&R executive tasked with managing The Electric Mayhem band. The band consists of Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot on saxophone, and Lips on trumpet.
“We are so excited to bring the story of The Electric Mayhem Band to the front and center of this new series,” said David Lightbody, Executive Producer of the series and Vice President of Disney Live Entertainment and The Muppets Studios. “They’ve been entertaining audiences since The Muppet Show, which debuted 45 years ago, so it’s wonderful that these characters are finally getting to play lead rather than supporting roles.”
The Muppets Mayhem will hit the Disney+ streaming platform sometime in 2023.
