Keep an eye out, Marvel fans, because the word on the street is that Adam Driver is in talks to star in the Fantastic Four reboot. The speculation says Marvel is eyeing Driver for the role of Reed Richards, AKA Mr. Fantastic, and the team’s leader.
Adam Driver is best known in the Disney universe as Kylo Ren, the Star Wars villain of the new generation. Driver played the tortured Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) alongside Daisy Ridley as Rey.
Fantastic Four is another superhero team co-created by Marvel legend Stan Lee. The heroes include Reed Richards, known as Mr. Fantastic, Susan Storm the Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm is the Human Torch; and Ben Grimm AKA The Thing. The Fantastic Four already had their story translated to the big screen before the success of the current Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2005 the film starred Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, and Ioan Gruffudd.
Adam Driver quickly became a fan favorite after Star Wars, and audiences are eager to see if he’ll star in another big Disney film franchise. Driver’s name has been thrown around in connection with the Fantastic Four reboot, but fans thought he might take on another villain role as the infamous Dr. Doom.
When it surfaced that Marvel was most likely going to focus on other Fantastic Four foes like The Silver Surfer, fans feared for Driver’s spot. It turns out that he may be the team’s star instead. WandaVision‘s Matt Shakman is directing with Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer writing.
Disney’s remakes have been under serious fire for their recent casting choices, and the Fantastic Four will likely face the same scrutiny. Production is expected to start this year, allowing for a February 2025 release date.
According to The Direct‘s sources, “Driver is Marvel Studios’ top casting choice to play the new Reed Richards.” What do you think of this rumor?
