What makes Peter Pan And Wendy different? (other than the casting)
Director David Lowery was determined to “investigate a new way to tell this story.” Audiences can expect this Peter Pan story to be told from Wendy’s perspective, with a “deliciously evil” Captain Hook delivered by Law, and include an exploration of the hate between Hook and Pan. From various trailers and this sneak peek, Neverland seems to take a mature turn, with higher stakes and more drama.
What does the cast have to say?
Alexander Molony (Peter Pan):
It was so much fun filming this movie, with all the pirates, all the Lost Boys.
Ever Gabo Anderson (Wendy Darling):
The fact that we all had this connection really brings it to life.
Yara Shahidi (Tinker Bell):
You get the magic of what we love about the original, but in this rendition, there’s more stories to tell.
Jude Law (Captain Hook):
It’s this incredible story that never ceases to amaze. What David’s done, that’s remarkable, is he’s made it more human, more possible.
Should you stream it?
Lowery concludes, “Everyday was a joy bringing this film to the screen. Our goal was to give audiences who love Peter Pan everything that they want.” It’s a tall order to give fans everything they want, but this featurette suggests the film will be full of the adventure and large-scale action Lowrey promises. The CGI, set design, and costumes look breathtaking. Even from short clips, the acting performances look formidable and moving. If you are looking for a magical experience, it looks like Peter Pan and Wendy will deliver.
The cast also includes Jim Gaffigan as Mr. Smee, Alyssa Wapanatâhk as Tiger Lilly, and Alan Tudyk as Mr. Darling.
Peter Pan and Wendy hits Disney Plus on April 28, 2023. As Tiger Lilly says, “Where you go from here is up to you.”
