The film revolves around Asha, described by the Walt Disney Company as “a sharp-witted idealist” and played by Ariana DeBose.
Asha and her animal sidekick, an adorable goat named Valentino, come face to face with Star, described as a “cosmic force” and “a little ball of boundless energy,” facing off against Disney’s latest villain: King Magnifico.
King Magnifico, played by the dashing Chris Pine, is the ruler of the kingdom of Rosas. As the latest Disney villain, King Magnifico has some big shoes to fill.

It’s no secret that the villain is a quintessential part of any Walt Disney Animation Studios fairytale movie. It’s just as crucial as the Disney Princess and Prince Charming archetypes. Everything from the bad guy’s look to their motive to their maniacal laugh has to be perfect. But the most critical aspect of all is the villain’s song.
Some of the most iconic Disney movie moments are the villain songs, such as “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from The Little Mermaid (1989), “Gaston” from Beauty and the Beast (1991), and “Be Prepared” from The Lion King (1994).
So, when Disney touts a brand-new villain song, fans quickly gather to listen and react. Unfortunately for the Walt Disney Company, Chris Pine’s newest single seems to be a letdown, according to some of the first listeners.

Wish is directed by Chris Buck, who directed Frozen (2013) and Frozen II (2019), and Fawn Veerasunthorn, who directed Raya and the Last Dragon (2021).
As if those names weren’t enough, the film is also produced by Peter Del Vehco, who also produced the Frozen series, and Juan Pablo Reyes, who produced Encanto (2021).
In short, this may be a must-see. Wish comes out on November 22, 2023.
