Actor and Hollywood heartthrob, Chris Pine, is officially part of Walt Disney Animation Studio’s new musical comedy, Wish! Pine will voice a character named King Magnifico, who reigns over the magical wish Kingdom of Rosas.
Wish is expected to be the newest installment in the Disney Princess franchise, following a character named Princess Asha. Voiced by Academy Award winner of West Side Story (2021) Ariana DeBose, 17-year-old Princess Asha is a resident of Rosas who sees darkness in her kingdom. The film will be about the power of wishes – a classic Disney theme.

Wish introduces Asha (DeBose), a sharp-witted idealist who makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force — a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star set out to prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.
Chris Pine’s King Magnifico, as his name suggests, is the most powerful person in the kingdom Writer and executive producer of Wish, Jennifer Lee said the production was looking for “charm, cleverness, and charisma [for] this magnanimous character” and Chris Pine was the perfect fit. Jennifer Lee is well known for her iconic work on the Frozen (2013) franchise.
The film is set to hit theaters this year on November 22. Wish make Princess Asha the second Hispanic Disney Princess, after the television character Princess Elena of Avalor, and the first of Disney’s major animated films. The film also stars Disney-favorite Alan Tudyk.
The directors are Chris Buck (Frozen) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (Raya and the Last Dragon). Audiences can expect new songs by Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy-winning producer-songwriter-musician Benjamin Rice.
