“We don’t talk about Bruno” took the world by storm as fans instantly fell in love with Disney’s Encanto back in 2021. Unfortunately, they may have to wait a while to see a sequel developed.

Encanto is an animated musical film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, released in November 2021. Directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, with Charise Castro Smith as co-director, the movie gained significant attention and praise for its vibrant visuals, heartwarming story, and captivating musical numbers. The film’s title, Encanto, means “charm” or “magic” in Spanish, fittingly encapsulating the essence of the story.

Encanto revolves around the Madrigal family, who live in a magical house hidden in the lush and enchanting jungles. Every member of the Madrigal family, except one, possesses a unique magical power, which is gifted to them at birth by an enigmatic candle. Mirabel, the protagonist, is the only family member without magical abilities, making her feel like an outsider in her own family.
The heart of the story lies in Mirabel’s journey of self-discovery and acceptance. As she grows up in the magical world of Encanto, she starts to question her role and purpose within her family.
Fans of Disney’s enchanting animated musical Encanto were thrilled when news of a sequel, aptly titled Encanto 2, was announced. The original film, released in 2021, captivated audiences with its heartwarming story, stunning animation, and culturally rich portrayal of Colombia. However, to the dismay of eager fans, Disney recently confirmed that the release of Encanto 2 is facing a delay.

Encanto star Stephanie Beatriz who plays Mirabel, shared that she would love to reprise her role, but it could be a while before that comes to fruition.
“I would love to work with them again. That team on that film was so incredible to work with that. I think a lot of [Jared Bush and Byron Howard’s] time right now is being taken up by other stuff… I know Jared and I think Bryon too are working on the second ‘Zootopia’ right now. But I would love to work with them again.”
Disney has started including Encanto in Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland. Guests will soon be able to meet Mirabel in Magic Kingdom. Disney World Guests were hoping an Encanto land would be added to EPCOT or Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but it looks like that may be more likely for Magic Kingdom when it’s all said and done.

While fans will have to wait longer for Encanto 2, they can continue listening to the hit songs and wonder what Encanto 2 would feature.
