‘Bluey’ Takes Planet Earth By Storm

The Australian children’s series Bluey has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide since its debut in 2018.

Created by Australian animator Joe Brumm after he was introduced to the British animated series Peppa Pig and decided that Australian kids needed an Aussie animated family in their lives, the adorable animated series follows the daily adventures (and a few misadventures) of the Heeler Family–Bluey, her younger sister Bingo, and her parents, Chilli and Bandit–who live in the suburbs of Brisbane, Queensland.

The series beautifully captures the essence of childhood play and imagination, and though it’s considered children’s programming, the series embraces an outside-the-box approach to teaching things like social skills, what it means to be part of a family, and how to cope with difficult situations.

In its first three seasons, episodes of Bluey have touched on tough topics like premature birth, infertility, divorce, broken relationships, aging grandparents, and more, but the show’s delivery puts parents at ease and creates opportunities for parents to have open conversations about these topics.

In each episode, Bluey and Bingo, along with their parents, embark on imaginative adventures in their everyday lives. From playing pretend games like “Doctor” or “Pirates” to navigating the ups and downs of sibling rivalry, each seven-minute episode of the series is chock full of humor and warmth that draws in not only young children but their parents and grandparents as well.

Bluey has even become a fan-favorite series among adults with grown children or no children at all.

The series has been so successful that the franchise is now worth more than $2 billion, according to Bloomberg, and in less than six years and over the course of just three seasons, Bluey has earned an Emmy and has amassed a massive fanbase that stretches around the globe.

Now, the $2 billion puppy and her family are heading to the Sunshine State.

As Bluey‘s fanbase continues to grow, more and more fans are asking when they can expect to see the blue heeler puppy and her family at the Walt Disney World Resort. Sadly, however, Disney doesn’t own the rights that will allow for the Heelers to be part of the Disney Parks experience–not yet, anyway.

Disney does, however, own the broadcast rights to Bluey, which allows the adorable children’s series to be broadcast on Disney Channel, Disney Junior, and the Disney+ streaming platform.

Nonetheless, the Heeler Family is coming to Florida in June 2024, where they will debut at the Dr. Phillips Center For the Performing Arts in the city of Dr. Phillips, Florida, just 15 minutes from the Walt Disney World Resort.

Bluey’s Big Play will debut on June 15, 2024, and run for two days, concluding on June 16, 2024, at the Walt Disney Theater inside the Performing Arts Center. Showtimes are at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. each day.

Per the Bluey’s Big Play announcement:

When Dad feels like a little bit of Sunday afternoon time out, Bluey and Bingo have other plans! Join them as they pull out all of the games and cleverness at their disposal to get Dad off that bean bag.

‘Bluey’s Big Play’ is a brand-new theatrical adaptation of the Emmy® Award-winning children’s television series, with an original story by ‘Bluey’ creator Joe Brumm, and new music by ‘Bluey’ composer, Joff Bush.

Join the Heelers in their first live theatre show made just for you, featuring brilliantly created puppets, this is Bluey as you’ve never seen it before, brought to real life. ‘Bluey’s Big Play’ is presented by BBC Studios and Andrew Kay in association with Windmill Theatre Co.

The exciting production is a great way for the whole family to experience the fun of the Heeler Family, and the elaborate, larger-than-life puppet show lasts approximately 50 minutes and has no intermission.
