Tom Holland’s career first began when he played the titular character Billy Elliot onstage at the age of nine. However, he’s better well-known for playing Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Tom Holland (full name Thomas Stanley Holland) first debuted in the MCU in Captain America: Civil War (2016), playing an all-new imagining of Spider-Man.

Since then, the young actor has appeared in multiple Marvel Studios films, including Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and solo films such as Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).
Most recently, Tom Holland has starred in the Apple TV series The Crowded Room (2023) as Danny Sullivan, a young man who doesn’t realize he has DID or Dissociative Identity Disorder.
As he’s playing a character with different personalities, or alters, he’s also playing those distinct characters as well. In the most recent episode, he played a female personality which included wearing heavy eye makeup.
The results were mixed, with some fans supporting and even praising the androgynous look while other viewers criticized him.

However, this isn’t the first time Tom Holland has taken gender roles and thrown them out the window.

During his performance, the young Spider-Man actor dresses as Rihanna and dances along to the song “Umbrella” after fooling audiences into thinking he was performing “Singin’ In The Rain” by Gene Kelly.
In short, Tom Holland is no stranger to portraying more feminine characters, and it should come as a surprise to no one given this earlier performance in his career.
