If you’re a Marvel fan, then you’ve probably seen Marvel Studios’ most recent movie about the wall-crawling superhero, Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Unlike Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), which brought different Spider-folk superheroes together, Spider-Man: No Way Home was revolutionary for bringing together each actor who has portrayed Peter Parker in a live-action film.

Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin), and more all came together to reprise their roles for one of the most indulgent Spider-Man movies to date.

This leaves Peter Parker totally alone with no friends, no family, not even a high school GED! All the superhero has left is a crummy apartment and a homemade Spider-Man suit.
This leads us to wonder…what could possibly be next for Marvel Studios’ Peter Parker?
As Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) takes Peter Parker’s place as the MCU’s resident bubbly, lighthearted teenager, fans wonder if that means that Peter Parker will return as anything but bubbly and lighthearted…
After all, Peter Parker has lost both Aunt May, Tony Stark (Iron Man), his best friend, Ned Leeds, and his girlfriend, MJ. Anyone he had known has forgotten about him entirely, and although he’s a prodigy and super-genius, his dreams of going to a great school are dead and gone.

In-universe reasoning aside, it’s also no secret that Tom Holland is tired of playing lighthearted teenager roles if his non-MCU films are anything to go by. So, if the actor is tired of playing a bubbly teenager, and the bubbly teenager role has already been taken, it stands to reason that Peter Parker will no longer be as happy-go-lucky as he was when the MCU finally introduced him.
If Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is to return to the big screen, it would surprise no one to see him as a jaded and bitter character. But until then, only time will tell.
