Tom Holland (full name, Thomas Stanley Holland) is known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s resident spider, Peter Parker. However, his recent role on another project has led to anti-Spidey sentiments that would rival the Daily Bugle.
While Tom Holland is the most recent live-action Spider-Man, he’s far from the first. Before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was Marvel Studios, in which two different Spider-Man series were released.

Tobey Maguire gave fans a classic comic book movie (three of them, actually), paving the way for future wall-crawlers. Not long after the last installment of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man series came Andrew Garfield, who starred in the Amazing Spider-Man series.
A few years after that, Tom Holland made his debut in Captain America: Civil War (2016), becoming the most recent live-action version of Peter Parker.

Ever since Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) brought all three Spider-men together in one movie, Spidey has taken the backseat in the MCU, giving the young actor a chance to branch out of the role.
Tom Holland’s latest project, The Crowded Room (2023), received criticism when it first debuted on Apple TV+. However, the most recent episode has received criticism for an entirely different reason.
In short, the episode includes Tom Holland performing an explicit gay sex scene, and the young star has received criticism as a result. Many fans on Twitter have declared that Tom Holland is no longer their favorite Spider-Man due to this gay sex scene. In a twist of irony, however, it turns out that there’s not a live-action Spider-Man actor who hasn’t played a gay role before.
Both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have played gay characters in the past, making it yet another thing the three Spider-Men have in common.

Tobey Maguire and Robert Downey Jr. appear in bed together in the 2000 film, Wonder Boys, while Andrew Garfield recently played a gay man suffering from AIDS in the stage play, Angels In America.
However, it’s worth noting that neither Tobey Maguire nor Andrew Garfield have faced any criticism for these roles. This could be due to the explicit nature of Tom Holland’s scene, or it could simply be due to how well-known and sensational the story is right now, as opposed to an older film and a stage play-both of which aren’t as fresh in anyone’s memory as the latest episode of The Crowded Room.
In any case, it can’t be denied that this is something all three actors now have in common.
