Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) recently swung into theaters on June 2, and fans have been flocking to see the Sony Pictures Animation and Marvel Comics film by the boatload ever since.
Already, the Spider-Man movie has dazzled fans of Marvel Comics, introducing new Spider-Man characters that many audiences haven’t met yet, as well as giving the spotlight to some beloved Spider-Man characters.
Not only that but it’s also made history: at two hours and sixteen minutes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is currently the longest-animated movie ever.
But that’s not the only record the Spider-Verse series is coming for…
The first installment in the series, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, came out in 2018. Even then, the film dazzled audiences, most of whom felt it was a perfect Spider-Man movie.
Five years later, audiences have finally gotten a sequel…only to find a twist ending for the ages, along with one of the most infamous cliffhangers ever made. In short, there’s no way audiences can wait another five years for the next installment! Luckily, they won’t have to.
The upcoming threequel in the series, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is currently scheduled to release on March 29, 2024, according to an article by Inside the Magic.
If you’re willing to do the math, you’ll realize that’s not just a short time window, that’s less than a full year. If this release date comes to fruition, it’ll become the shortest time between a film and its sequel in Marvel Studios’ history.
So, if you left the theater itching for your next Spider-Verse fix, don’t fret. You won’t have to wait very long in the grand scheme of things!
