Guests Are So Unimpressed With the Galactic Starcruiser, They Are Canceling Their Reservations

Starcruiser Canceled

In 2019, Disney announced that an all-new, completely immersive Star Wars experience would be coming to the Walt Disney World Resort. The Galactic Starcruiser would bring Guests aboard a ship that was sailing the galaxy. Guests would only be able to leave the ship when they were taken to Batuu — the planet of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios. Aboard the Starcruiser, Guests would be able to join the Resistance, have lightsaber training, dine on specialty food, and more.

Star Wars fans across the globe were beyond excited to be able to actually live their own Star Wars story, but there was some shock when Disney unveiled its pricing for the two-night experience aboard the Starcruiser. Voyages on the Galactic Starcruiser begin at $4,800 — which is for 2 Guests per cabin — and they only go up from there, with the most expensive charter being $6,000. Remember, that is just for two nights.

Despite the high price tag, Guests were quick to make their reservations and the first months of voyages were booked up incredibly quickly. The Galactic Starcruiser — named the Halcyon — is scheduled to open on March 1, 2022, and Guests could not wait. This was looking like a major accomplishment for Disney — then they released a “first look” promotional video.

The promotional video gave Guests a first look at what they will be seeing when they board the Halcyon and, unfortunately, people seem to be less than impressed. In fact, the video’s reception was so poorly received that Disney has wiped the video from social media — including deleting the original tweet and taking the video down from YouTube.

I realize now Disney didn’t make the Galactic Starcruiser for Star Wars lovers. They made it for rich people who think Star Wars is neat.

Sadly, it looks like the damage has been done. Guests have been cancelling their reservations left and right, and now nearly half of March is open and available for reservations. April is currently still fully booked, but May and June also have dates available.

Many booked Disney hotels are seeing reservations open up because they are still going through a phased reopening, but that is not the case with the Galactic Starcruiser. Since the immersive hotel is not opening until March 2022, all of the rooms were available to book when booking opened.

If you would like to experience the Galactic Starcruiser for yourself, you can look at open dates and book your own Star Wars stay by visiting the Walt Disney World website or clicking here. Disney is also giving one lucky winner and their Guests a chance to win a stay on board the Halcyon before it opens in March. You can click here to read more about the sweepstakes.

What do you think about the price tag for the Galactic Starcruiser?
