Walt Disney World’s latest news release revealed that Guests will soon get their first look at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as the construction takes over what was formerly Splash Mountain. An installment that Disney estimated would be coming later this summer is arriving a bit earlier than anticipated. So if you’re visiting Walt Disney World soon, keep your eye in the sky for Princess and the Frog theming.
Specifically, above the walls of pixie dust and construction, Magic Kingdom Guests should be able to glimpse the Tiana’s Foods water tower at the forming Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride. Walt Disney World’s news release called the water tower the “centerpiece” of the attraction, as it will be topped by Princess Tiana’s “signature tiara.”
The structure is specifically a new installation being added to the area for the ride’s re-theme. No water tower structure stood during its time as Splash Mountain. From design reports, Guests can expect to see a large tower a few stories high. The barrel at the top will be lined with dark wood planks, a sloping green roof that comes to a center point, and a giant, wiry replica of Tiana’s tiara. In white it reads, “Tiana’s Foods.”
The ride is currently set to continue construction throughout the rest of the year and will open in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland sometime in 2024. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was announced in 2020, and the water tower installation will be the very first concrete piece of the ride visible to Guests.
The Disney Parks Blog explains that on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, “you’ll join Princess Tiana and jazz loving alligator Louis during Mardi Gras season as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind celebration for the people of New Orleans.” Guests who take the ride will drop into the bayou, encountering fireflies, Zydeco-style music from Louisiana, and Tiana’s new bayou band friends (a rabbit, a raccoon, a beaver, a turtle, and more).
Guests will encounter Mama Odie, Princess Tiana in various outfits, Prince Naveen’s brother – Prince Ralphie, and more. This new ride promises to pick up right where The Princess and the Frog left off and take you along for the ride this time!
