As Disney Parks’ Mardi Gras celebration gets underway, the theme park icon is rolling out all-new dining and entertainment experiences, including an exclusive greeting from none other than Princess Tiana herself!
Of course, you probably know who Princess Tiana is, considering she’s got a few upcoming releases with the Walt Disney Company. First, a new Disney+ series will expand on the story of this first-ever African American Disney Princess and her husband, Prince Naveen, as introduced in 2009’s The Princess and the Frog. What’s more, at both the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, Walt Disney Imagineering will transform Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure with a little bit of Disney Magic!

The new attraction will enter the next chapter of Tiana’s story, emphasizing the success of her restaurant, Tiana’s Palace in New Orleans, and her latest business venture, the community-owned Tiana’s Foods. While the Palace restaurant will replace New Orleans Square’s French Market at Disneyland Park, there’s plenty of New Orleans fun to find all over Disney Resorts and the Disney Resort Hotels!
For instance, the Mardi Gras golf cart parade returns to Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts, a tradition lasting over a decade! Cast Members will decorate golf carts in accordance with the 2023 theme, The Legacy of Walt Disney World Resorts, as part of one of many recreation activities open to both employees and Disney Resort Guests at Riverside and French Quarter.

According to the Disney Parks Blog, Walt Disney World Guests will receive an extra special surprise this year, the ability to take photos with their favorite floats and interact with their Cast creators before heading “down the bayou” on a decorated Sassagoula River Boat cruise. Moreover, they can purchase an exclusive Port Orleans Mardi Gras pin souvenir and enjoy delicious green, purple, and gold Mickey beignets from the Scat Cats Club Café!
The fun doesn’t stop there, as the Mardi Gras celebration continues at Disneyland in Southern California during Mardi Gras week. In fact, the Disney Parks TikTok shared an exclusive greeting from Princess Tiana in honor of the Mardi Gras season.
