If you’ve read any entertainment news today, you’ve already heard that the popular FX series American Horror Story is a go for its twelfth season. FX gave fans of the show a sneak peek at what’s come as the new season’s American Horror Story trailer dropped today. Alongside Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts, actress Cara Delevinge will headline American Horror Story: Delicate. FX’s newest season of the popular creep show is loosely based on Danielle Valentine’s upcoming novel Delicate Condition. Since 2011, the American anthology has hosted many notable names, many of which have a Disney connection. Evan Peters, Ava Kokler, and Sarah Paulson are a few names that have worked directly with Disney or on acquired productions. However, one of the leads for the AHS twelfth season narrowly missed out on a prominent live-action role with Disney and credited the title to her furthering success.
American Horror Story Meets Disney
American Horror Story is an adult-oriented scare-fest that takes extreme stances against popular topics and turns them into horror gold. Fans wait eagerly throughout the year to hear what the new season will bring to televisions nationwide. The show has hosted many recognizable Hollywood names. Jessica Lange, Dylan McDermott, Kathy Bates, and Joseph Fiennes have all worked for the hit program in varying roles. However, given the gritty take on horror that makes the series groundbreaking, there are only a few Disney connections.
Evan Peters, who has been a mainstay on American Horror Story, famously, and unexpectedly reprised his role of Ralph Bohner (Quicksilver) in the 2021 Disney+ series WandaVision following the success of Avengers: End Game (2019). Ava Kokler also played in 2014’s series Girl Meets World, which now airs on Disney+.
NEW AHS Season
The newest season of American Horror Story will bring many familiar faces and some new ones. Pop icon Kim Kardashian will make her way to the stellar series as creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk continue reimagining and pushing the boundaries of horror. The new season of American Horror Story stars Emma Roberts and Cara Delevingne and is a first of its kind as it will be based on a book. “The novel is described as a gripping thriller about a woman who is desperate to have a family, but she starts to suspect that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure she doesn’t get pregnant.” – Hollywood Reporter. There is a lack of a Disney connection with the FX show. However, one lead for this upcoming season of American Horror Story has an interesting story. One that Cara Delevinge claims “fueled the rest of her career.”
FX provided a first look at the new American Horror Story season trailer today.
Cara Delevinge Misses Out on Famous Disney Role
Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (2010) was a live-action remake of the popular Disney film in 1951. However, Disney based its original Alice in Wonderland (1951) production on its short Alice Comedies from the 1920s. However, most Disney fans are more familiar with the 1951 story that follows Alice as she falls through the rabbit hole and meets an eccentric group of misfits that lead her off on an incredible adventure. Due to its popularity, like most Disney films nowadays, it was destined for a remake. With Tim Burton at the helm, and actors such as Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway, the remake was an over-the-top and exciting retelling of the original Disney classic.
Although the lead role of Alice was given to Australian actress Mia Wasikowska, AHS lead Cara Delevinge actually auditioned when she was 17 years old. Although Delevinge didn’t end up with the role, her audition struck a chord with writers, eventually winning her an audience with Tim Burton at dinner, leading to her casting in films such as Paper Towns (2015) and Suicide Squad (2016).

“My interpretation of Alice was a little crazy … I overplayed it — the way a young girl would overplay all her emotions,” she told W magazine regarding an audition tape she submitted. “I didn’t get the part, but that experience lit a fire in me,” she said.
Although Delevinge did not get the role of Alice, we’re happy that her audition led to a lucrative and successful career. Ultimately missing out on the lead role alongside Johnny Depp led to her casting in the newest season of American Horror Story. Acting alongside big names like Sarah Paulson and Kim Kardashian is definitely a step in the right direction. As Disney continues to remake their fan-favorite stories into live action, there’s bound to be a role perfect for Delevinge at some point. If the new American Horror Story trailer is any indication, this new season is sure to rival some of their best work!
Season twelve of AHS, American Horror Story: Delicate, premieres on FX later this summer.
