2022 was one heck of a year for Walt Disney World Guests and fans. After four long years, the Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom Park finally reopened. While TRON Lightcycle/Run isnβt quite ready to go yet, we learned that the attraction will open this spring. In addition to that, Disney World’s newest –and first reverse-launch — roller coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, opened in the World Discovery area of EPCOT. Add to that the 50th Anniversary was going on all year, and it was a great time to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth.
Even though Disney still requires theme park Guests to have reservations — something most people absolutely hate — the Parks seem more crowded than ever. That can lead to some LONG lines at some of the most popular rides in Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT.
The Twitter account WDW Stats took the average wait times of each attraction throughout the year at Walt Disney World and discovered what the most popular attractions of 2022 were. Here are your winners!
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
- Average Wait Time – 110 minutes
- Avatar Flight of Passage
- Average Wait Time – 96 minutes
- Slinky Dog Dash
- Average Wait Time – 87 minutes
- The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
- Average Wait Time – 82 minutes
- Seven Dwarves Mine Train

Now, you may be surprised that Cosmic Rewind is not on the list. However, it is important to remember that Cosmic Rewind is still operating on a solely virtual queue. That means that Disney only lets a certain amount of people in line each day. Once Cosmic Rewind opens up to all Guests each day, it is possible that the ride will shoot up to one of the longest lines in the Park.
If you thought that 2022 was a great year to head to Walt Disney World Resort, then youβll definitely need to book yourself a trip in 2023, as there is a ton of great things coming down the pike.
Not only will TRON Lightcycle/Run open, but so will EPCOTβs newest attraction, Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana. A Figment meet and greet will also be returning to EPCOT for a limited time, and a new nighttime show will premiere after Harmonious comes to an end. Over at Magic Kingdom, the incredibly popular fireworks show Happily Ever After will return once the 50th Anniversary ends. The Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion will also see the addition of the Hat Box Ghost, an iconic character found at Disneyland Resort.
We hope you and your family had a wonderful 2022 and that your 2023 is full of pixie dust and Disney magic!
