I can show you-a Disney World ride in need of serious refurbishment. At Disney World’s Magic Kingdom you’ll find lots of fun for all ages. The family-friendly Park is the centerpiece of Walt Disney World and is home to many coasters, shows, and dark rides. Although you’ll find classic Disney rides like Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean, Magic Kingdom boasts a wide variety of selections for those little ones in your traveling party.
Scattered throughout the Park’s many lands, you’ll see several rides that, although they look different, are actually pretty similar in nature. In Storybook Circus, you have the fan-favorite Dumbo, which allows Guests to board their very own flying elephant and lift into the sky while moderately traveling in circles. Kids absolutely love it! In Tomorrowland, you’ll find a similar ride system in the Astro Orbiter which flies Guests way above the sights and sounds of Magic Kingdom. You’d think two similar ride systems would be enough, but in 2001 Disney World introduced Guests to a third attraction that lifts riders from the ground and takes them for a tame flight in circles above Adventureland. This time, instead of flying elephants and space travel, the ride was themed after Aladdin’s popular flying carpet!
Although not really my jam, I often head passed the Magic Carpets of Aladdin on my way to the Enchanted Tiki Room or Pirates of the Caribbean. Recently, while dodging that pesky spitting camel, I noticed a group of people standing near the opening that leads to Jungle Cruise. Curious as ever, I walked over to see what they were pointing at when I heard it. A terrible, gut-wrenching sound that rivals fingernails on a chalkboard. It was the unmistakable squelch of mechanical parts struggling to do their job. The culprit? The Magic Carpets of Aladdin.
It seems I’m not the only one who has noticed the awful noise coming from the ride lately. TikTok user @sirbrayden also fell victim to the eye-splicing noise that the flying carpets are now giving off. See (and hear) for yourself! Make sure your sound is on!
This ride should be condemned. This is the real audio 🤣 pic.twitter.com/YWw3GnJM3b

Brayden so astutely claimed that the ride should be condemned, and honestly, after having heard the same issue in person, I can’t disagree with him. I’ve always found it a little cheap that Disney World would have three of the exact same ride types in the same Park. It’s not like we’re talking about a boat ride that moves through different story elements. Instead, it’s a hydraulic lift that spins you in a circle, and they did it THREE TIMES! However, it would seem that Disney may not have a choice to actually lessen that number to two, as the Magic Carpets of Aladdin are definitely on the struggle bus. The ride has been left in a disgraceful state and is in serious need of repair or replacement. If Carpet made that sound in the 1992 film Aladdin, no doubt Princess Jasmine would’ve run the other way.
