Re-Opening Date for Disney’s Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Leaked?

Rock ā€˜nā€™ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closed in February for a multi-month refurbishment. The indoor roller-coaster is slated to be down for an indeterminate period of time and Disney has stated that it will reopen “summer 2023.” That is all the information they gave at the time. They didn’t even give any indication about what exactly would be refurbished.

That didn’t stop fans from discussing the possibilities though. When it closed, the coaster stirred up more than its fair share of speculation and rumor. The majority of the gossip surrounded whether the ride would be re-themed. Fans overwhelmingly think Aerosmith’s days at Disney are numbered.

There is some strong evidence to suggest that the Aerosmith theme may be gone forever. Lead singer Steven Tyler is facing a lawsuit alleging sexual assault of a minor. This is certainly something Disney would want to distance themselves from and as we have seen with Johnny Depp, they don’t always wait for a verdict before issuing punishment. Even before the lawsuit, though, Universal Music Group had bought the band’s entire music catalog which could necessitate a retheme.

Will we discover whether the Aerosmith theme is “No More, No More” or “Back in the Saddle” sooner rather than later. A rumor has recently circulated that the coaster is set to reopen on June 3, 2023. As of now, this doesn’t pass our fact check. There has not been an official announcement from Disney which is reason enough to take with a grain of salt.

Sources close to the project have reportedly said June 3rd is the end Date for the ongoing construction work. This may be true but there is still no guarantee that the coaster will reopen then. Disney often has much to do to get a ride ready for Guests even after construction is completed. If there is a retheme involved, that’s doubly true.

We expected the refurbishment to carry on well into the summer and reopen sometime in August. We hope we are wrong though because Disneyā€™s Hollywood Studios is a Park that can’t afford to have ride closures during its busiest months. It suffers from a lack of crowd disbursement as is.

We will keep a close eye on this rumor and report back if anything changes. As of now, though, June 3rd seems to be wishful thinking but maybe we are just “Jaded.” We hope Rock-N-Roller Coaster rolls out the welcome mat and says “Walk This Way” very soon.
