Starting November 12, the holidays will begin at Disneyland Resort, and it will be the merriest time of year, full of decorations, specialty food, parades, and fireworks. However, Guests will only be able to enjoy the merriment at the Happiest Place on Earth if they make a theme park reservation — a system that went into place when the Parks reopened after a more than year-long shutdown.
Unfortunately, making reservations for the month of December just became exponentially harder.
When Disneyland Resort finally began selling Annual Passes again — now called Magic Keys — there were four tiers that Guests could choose from — Dream, Believe, Enchant, and Imagine (open to Southern California residents only). The Dream Key was the most expensive Magic Key, and it came with no blackout dates and the ability for a Key Holder to hold up to six reservations at one time. From there, the Magic Keys became cheaper, but have more blackout dates and fewer reservation holds.
While the Magic Keys do say that Guests will have a certain number of days when they can enter the Parks — the highest being 365 days — that is contingent on reservations being available, and right now, Magic Key Holders cannot make reservations for the entire month of December. Even with no blackout dates, Dream Key Holders are also unable to make reservations at this time.
In fact, reservations are completely booked for all Magic Keys from November 19 through January 1. Dream Magic Key purchases were actually so popular that Disney has currently paused the sale of Dream Keys, though the Believe, Imagine, and Enchant Keys remain available for purchase.
Now, it is important to remember that just because all reservations are currently booked, it does not mean that more reservations will not become available. Disney sets aside a certain number of reservations for Magic Key Holders and a certain number for regular ticket purchasers. If a number of reservation spots are still available and not taken by full-price ticket purchases, they will open more spots for Key Holders.
However, that is not a guarantee, so if there is a day in December that you would like to visit, make sure to frequently check back with either the Disneyland website or the Disneyland app for the most up-to-date reservation availability.
