If you have been to the Disneyland Resort recently, you will have noticed that, once you Park your car in either the Mickey & Friends or the Pixar parking structures and go through security, the tram loading areas are completely empty. Guests must walk from the parking structures to Downtown Disney, Disneyland Park, and Disney California Adventure — a distance of about one mile.
Disneyland Resort’s tram service has been unavailable since the theme parks reopened in April — they were also unavailable to Guests who visited California Adventure for A Touch of Disney. At first, Disneyland was unable to run the tram service due to COVID-19 protocols put in place by the state of California and by Disneyland itself. However, as the months wore on and most COVID protocols were relaxed, Guests began to wonder just how long they would have to wait for the trams to make their return and ease their walk to the Parks and back at night — especially after such long days.
Well, we have good news for you! According to a report from The Orange County Register, Disneyland trams are set to make their comeback in early 2022! Per The OCR:
Tram service between the Mickey and Friends and Pixar Pals parking garages and the front gates of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will return in early 2022, according to Disneyland.
Disneyland continues to slowly add capacity and make operational adjustments during the phased reopening of the resort, according to Disneyland officials. The Anaheim theme park will conduct maintenance on the parking trams and rehire staff during the next few months.
While Disneyland officials have not said exactly when the trams will reopen, it is nice to hear that they will in fact be coming back. The busses from the Toy Story parking lot — which is a little ways away from the Resort and across from the Anaheim Convention Center — have been up and running for months.
Tram transportation at Walt Disney World Resort remains suspended at this time, and Disney officials have not said when it will resume. Bus, monorail, and boat transportation are all up and running at Walt Disney World.
Are you excited to hear that the trams are coming back to Disneyland?
