Believe it or not, it’s only been five years since Captain Jack Sparrow’s last run in movie theatres. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales set sail in 2017, bringing back Johnny Depp’s iconic portrayal of the wacky sea captain. Depp’s take on the seafaring anti-hero stands strong as one of his most memorable performances and one of the most recognizable characters in Disney history. So much so that’s he’s actually been added to the ride that inspired the franchise at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Lately, the return of Jack Sparrow to the big screen has been a question on all of our minds.  Pirates of the Caribbean Fans have been waiting for the moment they’ll get Jack Sparrow back for one last run, and we’re here to tell you that this way be it! Luckily for these fans, and let’s be honest, fans of Johnny Depp, the good captain, will be swashbuckling on the silver screen again much sooner than you’d think.

Coming off of the winning side of a nasty domestic violence court battle with now ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp has been very vocal about not taking on the role of Jack Sparrow again. As Disney seemingly fired the actor with little to no validity of Amber Heard’s abuse claims against Depp, that relationship soured quickly. Even now, it’s a tough pill to swallow as Jack Sparrow is deeply engrained in our culture. To see the character fizzle out after the fall-out with Amber Heard and with little to no closure is tough for fans of the franchise. But not to worry, Disney knows the power of Captain Jack, and they’re going to do everything they can to scratch that itch. No, we aren’t talking about scurvy; instead, we mean bringing that nostalgic experience of first seeing Sparrow sail onto screen back to life for moviegoers.

As Disney continues their 100 years of magic celebration, they have partnered with Fandango to bring a few crowd favorites back to a theatre near you. Throughout the summer (starting in July), films such as The Lion King, The Incredibles, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl are headed back to where most of us first saw them! Although this isn’t a new production, we’re still excited to get a chance to relive our first adventure aboard the Black Pearl with Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa, Will Turner, and more. These films have created memories that will last a lifetime, and it’s a classy move by Disney to give fans one last chance to see Depp in the role at theatres. Although we’d love to see the actor bring Jack Sparrow back one last time, this seems like it will be it.

These callbacks will only run for a limited time, and as we’re not entirely sure if we’ll ever get future Pirates of the Caribbean films. This may be your last chance to catch it as it was meant to be experienced. So for those of you who love Johnny Depp or are pirate fanatics, be sure to check in with your local theatres for showtimes, and check Fandango for ticket prices. You’re not going to miss your last chance to hit the high seas with Captain Jack Sparrow.
