After hearing this news, you may never want to ride Pirates of the Caribbean again!

Walt Disney World is known as the most magical place on earth, but it isn’t always the safest. Every year, millions of people travel to the theme Park to experience a once-in-a-lifetime Disney experience. Unfortunately, the magic was lost for one tourist who suffered a serious injury on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at the Magic Kingdom Park.

A former Cast Member of Walt Disney World Resort has just come out with information recounting a time when a Guest lost numerous fingers while riding an iconic Disney attraction.

Horrific Accident at Walt Disney World

Pirates of the Caribbean is one of Walt Disney World’s most iconic attractions. Located in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom Park, this ride takes Guests on a swashbuckling voyage into the world of Pirates. This ride is considered a slow ride at the Park, so accidents are not usually occurring.

However, back in 2014, something genuinely gruesome took place on this Disney ride. TikToker and former Disney Cast Member @sweatyoracle shared the story of the incident. He explains that he was working at the attraction one morning when a Guest walked off the ride, went through the gift show, and approached the greeter at the front of the ride where he said, “I think I lost something on your ride.” This statement might have been standard if it wasn’t for the fact that he was holding up his hand where multiple fingers were missing.

Imagineers’ Shocking Response to Tragedy

The Guest, who was apparently a retired British Army Colonel, remained shockingly calm during the incident. It turns out that his hand was in the water during an early part of the ride. When the boat took a dip, the ride sliced off his fingers.

Immediately, Disney officials, paramedics, Disney lawyers, and Disney’s Imagineering team came to the ride. The information this former Cast Member says next is astonishing.

According to @sweatyoracle, Disney Imagineers tested the safety of the ride by holding hot dogs into the water to see where they would be sliced off. When the hot dogs got sliced, they repaired the area. When the hot dogs passed their test, this Cast Member claims they reopened the ride with the British tourist’s freshly removed fingers still in the water!

Just Another Day at Walt Disney World

While this story is absolutely wild, it is strangely one of many similar situations that have happened at Disney Park. Hopefully, no more finger decapitations will be in Disney’s future. As a reminder, always keep your hands and arms inside the boats at this attraction!
