Heard told Deadline:
“I’m in control for the most part of what comes out of my mouth. What I’m not in control is how my pride in this project and all we put into this film can be surrounded by clips of other stuff. Heard also said in the interview “let’s get the elephant out of the room then, and just let me say that. I am an actress. I’m here to support a movie. And that’s not something I can be sued for.”
Amber Heard has not made a public appearance since last year’s defamation trial. The media frenzy surrounding the trial, including a negative comments and post about Heard. The verdict from the trial came in on June 1, 2022 and sided with Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp won all three of his claims of defamation and was awarded $10.35 million in damages. Amber Heard on the other hand won one of her counterclaims against Depp, which he was to pay her $2 million. They decided to settle outside of court with Ms. Heard paying Mr. Depp $1 million.
In the wake of the legal battles, both actors have faced consequences. Johnny Depp was asked to resign from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in the “Fantastic Beasts” film franchise, a decision reportedly influenced by the trial’s outcome. Meanwhile, Amber Heard’s casting in the upcoming film, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023), has also faced backlash, with petitions calling for her removal from the project.
