Actors Johnny Depp and Dwayne The Rock Johnson could be coming together for a major project.
Disney fans have come to follow both Johnny Depp and Dwayne Johnson closely, each for different reasons. Johnny Depp is best known for bringing to life the beloved character Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. The $4.5 billion franchise has been one of the most successful film series in Disney’s history, and it’s all a credit to Johnny Depp.
Unfortunately, Disney’s relationship with Depp has been rocky, to say the least. Following allegations from Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard, Disney cut ties with the actor. Depp shared during the defamation trial that he wouldn’t return to Disney even if he were offered “$300 million.” Though Disney said publicly earlier this month that it was “noncommittal” on Depp returning for Pirates of the Caribbean 6, it was later reported that Depp had turned down Disney’s offer. Johnny Depp has played the main character in Pirates of the Caribbean as Captain Jack Sparrow. Several reports indicated that the company had offered Depp more than $20 million to return, but this hasn’t been confirmed.
Dwayne Johnson, on the other hand, has become one of the faces of Disney. Though it doesn’t seem that he’ll be replacing Johnny Depp in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean project, he does have a major Disney film in the works. Johnson will be returning to reprise his role as Maui in the upcoming live-action Moana film. He’ll be an Executive Producer for the movie, which is expected to begin filming in October and will have a release date in June 2025.
Now, it seems that the two actors could be coming together for a major collaboration.
Country Singer Jelly Roll, who comes from a rap background, recently shared that he was reaching out to Johnny Depp and Dwayne Johnson to collaborate in his music. Jelly Roll shared in the interview that his music has inspired celebrities, like Dwayne Johnson. He said that The Rock had reached out to him and shared that his music had helped him “during a tough time” in his life.
“That’s my formal invitation, Johnny Depp,” he said. “If you want to get involved in my next album or if you want to come play at the Grand Ole Opry with me and ‘The Rock,’ we could set it up… I could try… It’d be great.”
Of course, it’s unclear if Johnny Depp or Dwayne Johnson will accept the invitation, but it would absolutely be a sight to see two of the biggest stars in the world come together on a stage to perform songs.
