Actor Johnny Depp isn’t done!
Johnny Depp has been the subject of much controversy over the last year. The actor, who is best known for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, underwent heavy scrutiny after allegations from his ex-wife Amber Heard came forward. Heard, who is about to release her new DC Universe Aquaman movie, called Depp a “wife beater” and alleged that the actor was abusive. Depp denied these allegations and the two had a defamation trial in the U.K., in which Heard emerged the victor.
Then, the legal proceedings were moved to the United States. In a defamation trial that was live-streamed for all to see, Johnny Depp was awarded more than $10.35 million in damages. Heard vowed to appeal the case, but ultimately elected to settle outside of court, paying her ex-husband $1 million. Since that point, Johnny Depp has moved to Europe and just saw his newest film, Jeanne Du Barry, debut at the Cannes Film Festival.
Even though the legal proceedings have finished up, Depp remains in controversy. There were movements to boycott the Cannes Film Festival for allowing Johnny Depp to be a part of the proceedings. During an appearance, the Captain Jack Sparrow actor talked about the fact that he doesn’t feel boycotted by Hollywood because he “doesn’t think about Hollywood.”
Of course, the trolls had a field day with the fact that the actor showed up nearly an hour late for his press conference.

Johnny Depp fired back at trolls and gave a Pirates of the Caribbean update all in these comments:
“Do I feel a boycott now? No, not at all. I don’t feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don’t think about Hollywood. I don’t have much further need for Hollywood myself,” he added. “I think it’s a very strange, funny time where everybody wants to be themselves, but they can’t, they must fall in line, conform and if you want to lead this life, I’ll be on the other side.”
Though he showed up late– reminding trolls of when he worked as Captain Jack Sparrow and the troubles that Disney had with him– the actor essentially tells media that he “isn’t thinking about Hollywood.” That means there’s essentially no chance, at least for now, that he’s coming back to Disney. Johnny Depp revealed as much in the defamation trial last year when he said he wouldn’t return to Disney for “$300 million.” While many fans had hoped this was just conjecture, it looks as if he really meant it.
Depp also took exception with many calling his appearance a “comeback.”
“They’re using it as a kind of catchphrase. ‘The guy’s making a comeback.’ I’ve had about 17 comebacks by the way, apparently. I keep wondering about the word ‘comeback’ because I didn’t go anywhere.”
If you’re holding out hope that Johnny Depp is going to return to Pirates of the Caribbean, you might want to dampen expectations, at least for now. The actor hasn’t completely closed the door, but it would take a significant change for Depp to reunite with Disney.
