Recently we reported that the price of Disney’s Genie+ had increased. Not only has it increased, but it will now be subject to daily pricing, like airline tickets, based on crowd levels and demand. The price for the premium service (that replaced the complimentary FastPass) will now range from $15-$22* per person per day. Since guests cannot purchase Genie+ ahead of time anymore, there is no way around this. All Guests are subject to the price on that particular day. This means you may pay $15 one day and $22 the next. We’ve been keeping a close eye on it and have yet to see the cost at its lower price point.
Today the price for the day planning and line-skipping service is $22. That’s the most expensive end for the price range.
Recently we saw $20 for the service, which leaves us wondering if we will ever see the lower price point. Is the $15 low tier just a carrot dangling to entice people not to write the premium service off entirely? Time will tell.
Some Individual Lighting Lane (ILL) purchases have been affected by the increase as well. Rise of the Resistance, formerly $15 per person, will range from $15-$22* per person, and we have already seen this implemented. The ride sported a $20 price tag for a single ride this week. For a family of 4, that’s not an insignificant chunk of change
We will continue to keep an eye on the service and update you with relevant changes as they happen. We are curious to see when, if ever, we will see those lower price points pop up. Of course, pricing is based partially on crowd levels, so it’s unlikely they dip too low during the high crowd season of October.
