Since 2019, there has been a very unusual glitch at Disney’s EPCOT. Today is the glitch’s last day.

Goodbye, Vanellope von Schweetz

We are, of course, talking about Vanellope von Schweetz from Wreck-It Ralph (2012). Located at ImageWorks, park guests could experience a meet-and-greet with her and Ralph from the popular movie(s).

Standing in front of a cityscape background inspired by Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018), the characters would engage in the standard Walt Disney World Resort theme park experience of posing for photos and signing autographs to their fans. This changed during the pandemic when characters only engaged in distanced character sightings – Ralph never returned.

Rumors have claimed that construction walls will be up tomorrow (August 20), and Vanellope will be no more.

Hello Figment?

Further speculation includes rumors that Figment may take her place – but the Walt Disney Company has yet to confirm this. Disney has teased that Figment will be coming to a meet-and-greet this summer, but nothing has since materialized. However, seeing as this former Vanellope meet-and-greet space is steps away from Journey into Imagination with Figment, it only makes sense that guests would expect him.

Joy from Inside Out (2015) is currently meeting theme park guests at the Imagination pavilion, but many have speculated that she, too, could be leaving to make way for new characters.

In addition to Figment, other characters expected to take over the space include Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in their special Disney 100 Years of Wonder outfits. Either way, it’s always exciting when new characters (or old friends) come to the meet-and-greets. Not that we don’t love seeing the classic Disney characters we’ve come to know and love over the years, but change is always nice, too!
