Disney Rumored to Remain Closed Through Friday

On Tuesday we reported that Walt Disney World would be closing on Wednesday and Thursday due to Hurricane Ian. While the storm is quickly moving east of Orlando, rain bands continue to batter down. It has now been discovered from a thread on Reddit that Disney may remain closed through at least Friday September 30, 2022 and that Saturday will see a delayed opening. This reportedly comes from a Cast Member memo. Disney has not yet confirmed the closure.

There are conflicting reports on the thread as to the exact nature of the closure. Some have said the closure will effect all parks while others say it will only effect hotel operations. Some claim “to know” that Disney must open Friday because of EPCOT’s International Food and Wine Festival and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party revenue.

However, when we looked into the claim, we found that Theme Park Reservations have been completely blacked out for Friday September 30, 2022 so it seems likely the current rumor is credible. While no official announcement has come from Disney, they were also slow to announce Wednesday and Thursdays closure as well.

Disney Springs remains closed this morning with no official word as to when they may reopen. As of now, the best course of action is to avoid the area and confirm via Disney Springs website before you go.

As always this is an ongoing situation and as soon as Disney makes an official announcement, we will let you know. Many factors go into the decision to close the Parks, it is not one that they make lightly. While the possibility of canceled Park days are disappointing, the saftey of guests and Cast Members has to be paramount in the decison making process. We are following the situation closely and hope to have more news very soon on this situation
