Oops! Disney KiteTails Kite Ends up in the Trees
Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th Anniversary celebration is in full swing and has been since the festivities began on October 1, 2021. With many new additions for the 50th Anniversary, one experience at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park has been… well, shall we say, eye-catching?
Yep, once again Disney KiteTails has Guests chatting up a storm on social media. When Disney World rolled out its nighttime experiences for its 50th Anniversary, we were introduced to Disney Enchantment at Magic Kingdom along with Harmonious at EPCOT. These nighttime spectaculars, along with the four Park icons becoming Beacons of Magic have been wowing Guests since. But then there is Animal Kingdom’s new show…
When Disney dropped Rivers of Light nighttime spectauclar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom we weren’t sure what would come next. While we enjoy the nighttime Tree of Life Awakenings, we were ready to experience another show found in the Asia portion of the Park at Discovery River Amphitheater. We when Disney introduced the new daytime show, Disney KiteTails, we welcomed it with open arms.
And since then, Disney KiteTails has GROWN in popularity. Why? Well honestly, it’s a terrifying, fantastic show that leaves Guests on the edge of their seats to see what may happen next! While MOST of the time the massive kites being maneuvered over the water with jet skis goes perfectly, we’ve seen before where the kites just don’t cooperate, making it an interesting show to enjoy.
Disney KiteTails has confused Disney Park Guests so much so that Disney even put out a warning so Guests aren’t worried about what they see during the show.

There are currently two unqie shows featuring beloved animated classics including The Lion King with kites inspired by Simba, Zazu, and more, along with The Jungle Book which includes kites such as King Louie and Baloo. With these colorful kites being as massive as they are (and wind seemingly having a mind of its own), issues are bound to happen. In this case, Zazu took flight… but took a wrong turn!
@ThatDisneyBoi tweeted to videos including one of the incident happening during the show, and another of the Disney KiteTails Cast Members pulling the Zazu kite out of the tree. Check out the videos below:
Well, it happens! And thankfully the Cast Members were successful at getting Zazu back on the ground as shown in the second video and cheers coming from the bystanders.
