Tree of Life Awakenings Show at Walt Disney World May See Expansion

Tree of Life Awakenings has added a vibrant element to the nighttime experiences to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World.  The new evening show projects beautiful colors and images onto the Tree of Life around every 10 minutes at the park.  Currently guests are only able to view the show from the front of the Tree of Life standing in the Discovery Island area where you face after you first enter the park and cross the bridge.  This does present wasted opportunity since these images and “awakenings” could be shown from other angles of the tree, too.  Well, this may be coming soon since projectors were spotted behind the tree.  This is strictly rumor and speculation at this point, but spotting projectors may be a sign that Tree of Life Awakenings could soon receive an expansion to other sides of the tree.  This would be great since the show is quite popular and causes a lot of congestion to view.

With Rivers of Light open now and Pandora – The World of Avatar finally opening next week there will be a large influx of guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  This added traffic may be a catalyst for adding additional projectors and for Disney to look into expanding this nighttime show since the nighttime attractions in the park will be limited.  Whatever the case may be, I know we would love to see the show expand and see how Disney would incorporate this expansion.

What would you all think about an expansion to Tree of Life Awakenings?  Do you think this would be a good idea?

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
