If there’s one thing we know about Disney Guests, it’s that they are not shy about complaining. Guests visiting Disney attractions have complained about the existence of crowds at the theme parks, ride wait times, the weather, food portions, and more. Now it’s come to light that Guests aboard the Disney Cruise Line vessel, the Disney Wish, had a massive issue with the ship’s elevator buttons. That’s right. The buttons inside the elevators. Is this more nonsense from picky, entitled Guests…or do they actually have a point this time?
If you’ve ever taken a cruise of any type, you’ll know that the elevators are pretty essential for getting from attraction to attraction. Even if you’re dedicated to taking the stairs a dozen or so decks, the elevator is the quickest and most efficient way to get around, especially if you’re traveling with a group. Even though they are essential, it’s easy to overlook their value because of an elevator’s lack of glamour.
Guests aboard the Disney Wish apparently couldn’t ignore the ship’s elevators if they wanted to because the buttons were wildly sensitive. All it would take was one person to accidentally brush up against the button panel, and then ALL of the buttons were pressed. If the elevator were packed, Guests would end up having to stop at every single floor, even if they were all getting off at one.
It took such a toll on Guest experience and the overall time wasted on their vacation that Disney listened to their complaints and was forced to act. They are currently changing out all of the elevator button panels specifically to solve this efficiency issue, which is ultimately a safety issue as well.
The new buttons will be much less sensitive and a little more clear in indicating which floors are actually pressed and selected.
As Scott Sander put it on Twitter, “Wishes do come true.”
