Coming to Walt Disney World Resort’s EPCOT later this year is the new CommuniCore Hall. It has been described by Disney as being a new space for Guests that will bring the many festivals of EPCOT to the “center of Walt Disney World.”

The New Hub

Located near the front of the Disney park, the building will serve as a hub for special events and EPCOT’s many festivals. It is reported to feature a demonstration kitchen, mixology bar, gallery space, and a meet-and-greet space for Mickey Mouse and other characters.

Recently, during a special Cast Member event, Walt Disney World Resort revealed a mural that will be inside the space when it opens later this year. Available only for Cast Members to view, images show glimpses of the Disney and EPCOT-themed mural. It appears to feature various characters and callbacks to former EPCOT theme park attractions.

The mural features Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse at its center, wearing space suits. To the right of Mickey, Guests will be able to see the Land pavilion, Wonder of Life, the robot butler from Horizons. To the left of Minnie, viewers can spot a dinosaur from Universe of Energy munching on leaves, the Imagination pavilion (with Figment holding a wand), and the old World of Motion façade.

What Else?

Other elements featured on the mural include a monorail, Spaceship Earth patterns, the Dreamfinder’s Dream Mobile airship, and The Nova Corps Star Blaster from Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. There are also images of Goofy in a spaceship, Donald Duck swimming with fish, Mission: SPACE, and a Body Wars ship.

Although it is not expected to open in time for Disney100 celebrations at the EPCOT theme park, an official date of the new CommuniCore Hall (and CommuniCore Plaza) has not been announced.

About Steven Wilk

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
