Dining at Yak & Yeti Restaurant

Disney’s Animal Kingdom has several table service restaurants that Guests can choose from including the delicious and popular Yak & Yeti Restaurant in the Asia area of the Disney Park. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner and spans two floors of beautifully themed and decorated dining rooms where Guests can enjoy an expansive menu of pan-Asian delicacies.

Yak & Yeti Restaurant features a rich back story that can be found on the back of the menus, and helps to set the tone for the overall theme and history of the location. Guests are transported to the Himalayan Mountains where Arjun, a previously wealthy merchant who has fallen on hard times, has turned his home into the Yak & Yeti Hotel for local travelers and climbers to stay at. The furniture is a mishmash of items that Arjun collected throughout Southeast Asia over the years, and the core of the hotel is the Yak & Yeti Restaurant.

Guests who take the time to explore the two floors of Yak & Yeti Restaurant are treated to seemingly endless artifacts that were all collected by Imagineers in Southeast Asia while researching for Disney’s Animal Kingdom. In addition, the décor features dark woodwork, brightly colored walls and accents, warm lighting, and beautiful views out into Disney’s Animal Kingdom from the second-story windows.

Upon entering Yak & Yeti Restaurant, Guests are greeted with a small check-in area as well as a tucked-away bar where Guests can sit and enjoy cocktails while waiting for their tables or order select items off of the menu. The check-in area immediately showcases the attention to detail and beautiful quality of items and artifacts throughout the restaurant for Guests to enjoy.

The menu offered at Yak & Yeti Restaurant for lunch and dinner features an expansive array of options that showcase the various flavors and types of cuisine that are popular across Asia and Guests are sure to have a hard time narrowing down what to order. Those who are truly stuck can absolutely ask the Cast Members for recommendations as there is literally no wrong choice while dining there!

Guests can begin their meals at Yak & Yeti Restaurant with a selection of small plates including options such as Wok-Fried Green Beans with a Thai chili dipping sauce, Pork Pot Stickers with a soy lime dipping sauce that can be prepared pan-seared or steamed, and Pork Egg Rolls with a chili plum dipping sauce. A great small plate that many Guests love to indulge in is the Firecracker Shrimp which is fried, tossed with a creamy and spicy sauce, and served with a crunchy Asian slaw.

Those who are willing to share their menu choices at Yak & Yeti Restaurant can also check out several shareable options that are designed to be enough of a portion for two Guests. The Lettuce Cups are filled with minced chicken breast, chopped vegetables, and a Saigon Haison sauce and the Korean Fried Chicken brings the heat with hand-breaded tenders tossed in gochujang maple syrup and served with a dipping sauce.

The real star of the shareables options is a dish that many Guests literally return to Yak & Yeti Restaurant for time and time again. The Ahi Tuna Nachos are a massive serving of sushi-grade Ahi tuna mixed with an Asian slaw, crispy fried wontons, wasabi aioli, and a sweet soy glaze for an epic pan-Asian take on nachos. With the perfect amount of crispiness, creaminess, and generous bites of Ahi tuna, Guests simply can’t go wrong ordering up the Ahi Tuna Nachos (but no judgment if they don’t want to share!).

A light start to any meal at the Yak & Yeti Restaurant can begin with a selection of soups and salads including the Seared Tuna Salad which again makes fresh Ahi tuna the star of the dish by pairing it with mixed greens, grape tomatoes, wonton crisps, and ginger dressing. Another seafood option for a salad is the Chop Chop Shrimp Salad which tops chopped romaine, red, and Napa cabbage with carrots, marinated grilled shrimp, crispy wontons, and a miso sesame dressing. The Chop Chop Salad is also available with marinated grilled chicken instead of shrimp.

Simpler soup and salad options on the menu at Yak & Yeti Restaurant are the Wonton Soup with traditional pork wontons, clear chicken broth, and vegetables and the House Salad with romaine and iceberg lettuce topped with sesame seeds and Asian dressing. Both of these options can be added in a half portion to any entrée offered on the menu for both lunch and dinner.

The entrees on the menu at Yak & Yeti Restaurant are broken down into several categories beginning with Noodles & Bowls, each of which encapsulates the bold and delicious flavors of pan-Asian cuisine. Guests can dig into Lo Mein with chicken, shrimp, a combo, or vegetable options and each features carrots, cabbage, green onions, and bean sprouts.

The Roasted Vegetable Bowl is a light, yet filling, option with Kalbi marinated vegetables served over white and red quinoa, brown rice, and a vegan sriracha aioli for a hit of spice. The most indulgent bowl option on the menu is the Malaysian Seafood Curry which features jumbo shrimp and Dungeness crab ravioli mixed with zucchini, spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms in a red curry coconut sauce.

Moving on to specialty entrée options, Yak & Yeti Restaurant serves up some hearty meals with a wide array of flavors that Guests are sure to love. The Bhaktapur Duck is a roasted half ducking served with a plum barbecue sauce, jasmine rice, and stir-fried vegetables, and the Miso Salmon is perfectly cooked and served over a bed of coconut-ginger rice with stir-fried vegetables.

Guests are also sure to enjoy the Coconut Shrimp which is served over jasmine rice and accompanied by stir-fried vegetables and a plum barbecue sauce for dipping. One of the most popular specialty entrees on the menu at Yak & Yet Restaurant is the Chicken Tikka Masala which features chicken breasts marinated in yogurt and ground herbs cooked in a traditional masala sauce and served with jasmine rice and fresh garlic naan.

Wok entrees also serve up some big flavors including the Korean Beef with a Korean barbecue sauce, peppers, onions, and pineapple and the Sweet & Sour Chicken served tempura-style with garlic, ginger, bell peppers, and pineapple. The Honey Chicken is also a wonderful option served tempura-style with vegetables and Guests’ choice of jasmine or brown rice.

The final entrée category at Yak & Yeti Restaurant features grilled items including a Kobe Beef Burger and plant-based Beyond Burger as well as several hearty options. The BBQ Ribs feature a half rack of slow-roasted St. Louis pork ribs smothered in a Korean barbecue sauce and served with fries and a kimchi slaw plus the option to add a second half of ribs for an additional fee. Other options on the grilled menu are the Teriyaki Chicken with pineapple mango salsa, teriyaki glaze, coconut-ginger rice, and stir-fried vegetables, and the Soy Herb Glazed Rib Eye which is topped with kimchi butter and served with stir-fried vegetables and mashed potatoes.

There are also several sides on the menu at Yak & Yeti Restaurant for Guests who are looking to add to their meals including options like Garlic Noodles, Sauteed Baby Bok Choy, Wok-Fried Green Beans, and Coconut Shrimp. Guests who like extra rice can also order sides of the House Fried Rice, Steamed Jasmine or Brown Rice, or Chicken Fried Rice.

With such an extensive menu of amazing appetizers and entrees, Guests might struggle to save room for dessert at Yak & Yeti Restaurant, but they absolutely should as there are some incredible mouthwatering options that can’t be found anywhere else! Guests can indulge in New York Cheesecake and Chocolate Pudding Cake as well as Mango Pie served with a shortbread cookie crust, whipped topping, and raspberry sauce.

The most popular dessert at Yak & Yeti Restaurant by far is the Fried Wontons which feature skewers of fried cream cheese stuffed wontons and pineapple chunks served with vanilla ice cream and a honey-vanilla drizzle. They are the perfect combination of crispy and warm wontons with a hint of tang from the cream cheese and sweetness from the ice cream and drizzle.

Guests who find themselves in Disney’s Animal Kingdom absolutely need to enjoy a meal at Yak & Yeti Restaurant. With so many menu options to choose from, there is a menu item for everyone to enjoy for lunch or dinner, and the atmosphere and theming of the restaurant make it an unforgettable experience!
