EPCOT has never been the easiest park for little kids, especially after the closing of Innovations. It was a fun place for kids to play and explore. Since that closure, kids have had to rely on seasonal playgrounds at different EPCOT festivals.
Not a knock, just a description. The park was built around ideas, and ideas do not hold a four-year-old. World Showcase is a walk. Spaceship Earth is slow. The best thrills have height requirements, and Test Track sits at 40 inches, which rules out a lot of young guests entirely.
Parents learn to work around it. Find the splash pad. Try to find the shade. Or even find the corner of a shop where a kid can burn ten minutes.
Disney just added one of those corners, and the location is smart.
A new cars play table for kids has appeared inside Test Track Gear Shop at EPCOT.
Small addition. Also, exactly the thing that makes an afternoon easier.
What It Looks Like
Metal table, blue play surface, neon yellow stripe around the border.
Five cars available to play with, including a Lightning McQueen toy.
The silver legs have angled panels in vibrant yellow and blue, tying it into the color scheme running through Test Track’s post-reimagining design.
It reads as designed, not improvised. A folding table with toys on it would have felt like an afterthought.

Why the Placement Works
Test Track Gear Shop is where guests exit the attraction, which makes it a natural gathering spot.
Think about how a mixed-age family actually moves here. Older kids and adults ride. Anyone under 40 inches does not. Somebody waits with them, standing in or near the shop while everyone else finishes.
That waiting kid now has something to do besides asking how much longer.
It works in reverse too. A kid rides, gets off excited, and wants to keep playing with cars. The table catches that.
The Merchandise Angle
There is a commercial layer here, and it is worth naming.
The new Disney Racers toys are sold in this same shop. Those die-cast cars are inspired by Disney attractions and characters, including Space Mountain, Tron Lightcycle / Run, and the Monorail.
A car play table in the shop that sells car toys is not a coincidence. A kid rolling Lightning McQueen across a table is going to notice the shelf nearby.
That said, this is a mild version of the tactic. The table is free, no purchase required, and it genuinely helps parents.
Test Track at EPCOT Keeps Getting Tweaked
The play table joins a run of changes here.
Test Track reopened last year after a reimagining that dropped the futuristic look of the previous version in favor of transportation history and the original World of Motion attraction. Longtime fans got something familiar, and the high-speed finale stayed.
The General Motors showroom at the exit also got refreshed. Most vehicles on the right side were replaced, mainly with 2026 models plus one 2027.

The Exit Became a Destination
Put it together and something shifts.
Current-year vehicles in the showroom. A new line of attraction-inspired die-cast cars in the shop. And now a table where kids can actually play with them.
That covers essentially every age in a family group. Adults at the Corvette. Teenagers at the 2027 Cadillac. Little kids pushing Lightning McQueen around.
For an exit that used to be a hallway, that is a real change.
Elsewhere at EPCOT
This is one piece of a much bigger stretch of activity.
Germany and Canada are both facing updates and construction, adding to the visible work around World Showcase.
In Mexico, the wood shop inside the pyramid is gone.
In France, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure got new props. Much smaller, but a sign Disney keeps adjusting existing spaces while bigger projects move around them.
Before You Go To EPCOT
Traveling with young kids while someone in your group rides Test Track? The gear shop is now a genuinely useful place to wait.
Five cars, a real play surface, and air conditioning is not nothing on a September afternoon in EPCOT.
Additions like this never get announced. They are usually the ones parents appreciate most.
