Bluey is an Australian children’s TV show, created by Joe Brumm, who has worked on other successful children’s shows such as Peppa Pig (2004-present), Charlie and Lola (2005-2008), and Tinga Tinga Tales (2010-2011).
Bluey centers around a family of anthropomorphic blue and red heeler dogs, distinctively Australian cattle breeds. The television series first premiered on Disney Junior in October 2018, and in a short amount of time, it’s become one of the most popular kids’ shows out there, enchanting little ones and parents alike!

Each episode is full of jokes, storylines, and lessons that parents can also appreciate while watching with their little ones, making it a popular choice. This hearkens back to the Walt Disney Company’s original reputation for making family-friendly films, which continue to bring family members of all ages together.
Similarly, Bluey has families gathering in front of the TV to watch something together. Soon, families may be gathering in front of the big screen to watch a Bluey film!

According to the latest reports, one of the biggest stars of the show, Melanie Zanetti, who voices Bluey’s Mother (Chili), spoke about the possibility of a Bluey movie adaptation while walking the red carpet of Australia’s Logies Awards.
Zanetti stated “I do think it’s time for a Bluey movie,” and even confirmed, “I would be 1000% open to doing that.”

It’s not impossible to adapt a film from a children’s TV show. Take The Rugrats Movie (1998), Scooby-Doo (2002), and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004) as a few examples.
However, the real challenge comes from taking a kids’ TV show and making a full-length film out of it. After all, there isn’t a single episode of Bluey over nine minutes!
That’s not to say that it can’t be done, but it would be an undertaking for sure.
