8 Things You Shouldn’t Do At Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is a magical vacation destination that has four theme parks, two water parks, dozens of Disney Resorts, and the wonderful Disney Springs. With so much to do and see in every corner of the property, many guests might be a little overwhelmed in how to best enjoy a Disney vacation. While some guests overwhelm themselves, other guests might do some things that they shouldn’t which end up hurting the trip more than helping. From skipping out on early reservations and underrated attractions to missing special entertainment and chances to relax, there are some things that guests should definitely not do. Here are eight things that guests shouldn’t do when visiting Walt Disney World.

8. Not Make Advanced Dining Reservations

There are literally hundreds of places in Walt Disney World to eat, and many of them are full service restaurants which often require reservations. Since many locations are so popular, their reservations tend to fill up early. Guests definitely should not skip out on making Advanced Dining Reservations, or ADRs, which can be made up to one hundred and eighty days in advance.

7. Skip FastPasses

FastPasses are available to all guests visiting Walt Disney World and they act as reservations which assign guests a specific time to report to an attraction or experience to enjoy it with little to no wait time. Guests are entitled to book up to three FastPasses per day in advance and once they use those initial three they can book more. Those who stay off property can book FastPasses up to thirty days in advance and those who stay on property in a Disney Resort can book up to sixty days in advance. Since many attractions are very popular, guests should definitely book FastPasses to save themselves time that would have otherwise been spent waiting in line.

6. Sleep In

While sleeping in is a great way to relax and enjoy vacation, guests should definitely not do this every morning of their Walt Disney World trip. Some of the quietest times in the parks are early mornings when many other guests are sleeping. These quiet mornings are a great time for guests to enjoy relatively empty parks and popular attractions with low wait times.

5. Not Utilize Extra Magic Hours

Extra Magic Hours are special times in the parks only available to guests who are staying on property at a Disney Resort. Each day one park opens an hour early and another remains open up to three hours late for Disney Resort guests. These Extra Magic Hours offer fantastic opportunities for Disney Resort guests to enter into the parks where they can enjoy low crowds and attractions with much lower wait times than normal.

4. Skip Research

One of the biggest things that guests should not do on a Disney vacation is skip their research. Guests should at least be aware of what each park features including attractions, entertainment, and general layout. By knowing where things are and how to get around, guests can save time that would have otherwise been spent asking for directions, wandering around, or stopping to consult a map. Guests who do their research also know which attractions are for them and can avoid any that might be too thrilling or intense without issue.

3. Skip The Underrated

While Walt Disney World has many popular attractions, there are a fair share of those that are considered underrated and often are overlooked by guests. Guests who spend time in the parks should definitely not skip out on these underrated attractions which each feature their own unique theme, storyline, and experience. Some underrated attractions to not miss out on include Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, the Country Bear Jamboree, Swiss Family Treehouse, Hall of Presidents, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, Living with the Land, Journey into Imagination with Figment, Impressions de France, Walt Disney Presents, Muppet Vision 3D, Maharajah Jungle Trek, and Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail.

2. Not Enjoy The Pools

Guests who stay on property at a Disney Resort might find themselves spending very little time at their Disney Resorts which is a huge mistake. Each resort features its own unique theme and amenities which are sure to thrill guests. One of the best parts of each Disney Resort is the pool, many of which feature hot tubs, water slides, child friendly play areas, and much more.

1. Skip Nighttime Entertainment

Once the sun sets in Walt Disney World, some of the theme parks come to life with unique and amazing entertainment. Guests should be sure to not miss out on these incredible nighttime experiences including Epcot Forever in EPCOT’s World Showcase, Fantasmic! or Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom, and Rivers of Light and Tree of Life Awakenings at Animal Kingdom.
