Walt Disney World has made some big changes to the line-up of Guest-favorite attractions offering Individual Lightning Lane service. Disney announced today that it will be removing three of those popular attractions from the Lightning Lane line-up and temporarily adding them instead to Disney Genie+ instead.
The temporary changes in the attractions line-up will take effect on February 25, 2022, and stay in effect through August 7, 2022.
The three attractions include Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Frozen Ever After in the Norway pavilion on the World Showcase at EPCOT, and Space Mountain in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom, meaning Guests won’t be afforded a space in the Lightning Lane queue for these attractions during the temporary change.
From February 25 to August 7, these three attractions will be unavailable for purchase a la carte since they will not be Lightning Lane attractions during this time. No other attractions have been added to Lightning Lane in place of these three. This move opens up more options for Guests to enjoy (and saves them money too), especially as we approach the spring and summer seasons at the Walt Disney World Resort.
These changes do not affect the remaining Lightning Lane attractions, which now include only Avatar: Flight of Passage in the World of Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom.
Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane service replaced the now-defunct FastPass+ program in October 2021. Shortly before that, signage was changed at many rides to reflect the change; instead of FastPass+ queues being designated as such, the new signage reads “Lightning Lane.”
