The Walt Disney World Resort in Central Florida has an important warning for Guests planning to visit the parks during the upcoming holiday weekend, especially if the parks become crowded.

From Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park and the elephants at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to World Showcase at EPCOT and the Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there are a million and one reasons that Disney World fans flock to the parks whenever they get the chance–or whenever they are lucky enough to score a Park Pass Reservation for the theme park they hope to visit. But the holidays, as well as the long weekends brought on my federal holidays observed on a Monday, are prime times in the parks for Guests hoping to squeeze a few more Disney days into their year. The weekend before Presidents’ Day is no different.
This year, Presidents’ Day falls on Monday, February 20, and the weekend preceding the holiday–Saturday, February 18, and Sunday, February 19–may be very busy. Last year, Disney World issued a warning for Guests visiting during the holiday weekend, announcing that Genie+ can sell out quickly, and this can happen any day of the year. Disney wanted Guests to be aware of the possibility of a sellout, and let them know what to expect if a sellout were to occur.
As such, NexStar Media’s Scott Gustin tweeted a reminder for Disney World Guests this morning. Guests planning to purchase Disney’s Genie+ can be shocked and frustrated to learn that the service is sold out for the days of their visits, especially since many Guests don’t realize that the Genie+ supply can be exhausted, so to speak.

“A reminder about the holiday weekend at Walt Disney World,” Gustin tweeted. “[Walt Disney World] announced last year Genie+ CAN sell out on any given day. If a sellout occurs, a message displays in the app, and sales will not resume again until the next day. You can purchase G+ starting at 12:01 a.m. [on the day of your visit].”

Genie+ can be purchased on the day you plan to visit, beginning at 12:01 a.m. But the service can sell out quickly, especially on days when the parks are nearing or at capacity. Should a sellout occur, it’s important to know that sales of the service will not resume until the next day. So if you find yourself facing the unfortunate scenario of not being able to purchase Genie+ one day, be sure to stay up late or get up early so you can purchase it on the next day(s) of your trip.
