Woman Shocked When She Is Dress Coded at Universal Studios

Spooky season is in full swing at theme parks around the world, and there are two kinds of guests — those who love the cutesy Halloween theming you can find at Disney, and those who love to be terrified at Universal Studios. Universal and Disney both love to celebrate Halloween, and they do it really well. However, they are complete opposite ends of the spectrum.

At Disneyland and Walt Disney World, guests can enjoy Mickey pumpkins, fun eats and sweets, and go to events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (Disney World) and Oogie Boogie Bash (Disneyland Resort).

While Universal also has cute characters in costumes, it aims to terrify the older crowd. Its decorations are scary, bloody, and just overall creepy. Halloween Horror Nights at the Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood is not for the faint of heart. It is full of haunted houses, scary mazes, and horrifying characters whose goal is to make you scream in terror.

Since Universal is clearly targeting an older audience for its Halloween Horror Nights, you would think they would be a little more relaxed about the rules guests must follow.

However, one woman was shocked when she visited the Universal Orlando Resort for a fright-filled night and actually got dress-coded!

TikToker Suellenh73 said that she and her friends go to Halloween Horror Nights every year, and they always make shirts to celebrate the occasion. However, this year, the GenX mom said that security stopped her at the entrance and said that she and her friends were not allowed to wear the shirts. They were given the option of either buying a new shirt or wearing the “prison” gray ones provided by Universal.

However, when she checked with a Universal team member, Suellen was told that the shirts were fine to wear! Unfortunately, they could not put their original shirts on because they had been confiscated by security until the women left the park. When they told security what the team member said, security disagreed and “tripled down.”

In a follow-up video, Suellenh73 showed followers the shirt, and they were shocked that she was told she could not wear it in the park. The shirt was a simple back tee shirt that had a design in the corner with the phrase “Spooky Bitches.”

Yes, that’s it. Suellen and her friends were not allowed into the park because the shirts they were wearing said “bitches.” The Halloween Horror Nights website does not say much about guest attire. It only says that guests attending the event are not allowed to wear costumes or masks over their faces.

However, it should be noted that the Universal Orlando Resort website does say that guests are prohibited from wearing clothing with “offensive language.”

The shirt! Would you be offended to see this shirt at an event that is designed for those 13 and older? I was not expecting to have this happen. Im 50. Never been dress coded in my life! #hhn34 #halloweenhorrornightsorlando #dresscoded #universalstudiosorlando #universalorlando

Many commenters actually agreed with security, saying that she should not wear a shirt that said “bitches” to a theme park. However, Suellen pointed out that Halloween Horror Nights is full of scary mazes and haunted houses that would definitely be considered “inappropriate.”

Have you been to Halloween Horror nights? It’s an adult hard ticketed event with massive gore – a mother eating her baby’s head in one of the houses. Also we saw people wearing more offense profanity

She also said that they asked security if they could just put the shirts on inside out, but security said no because they would just be able to turn the shirts the right way once they were in the parks.

Definitely not. We asked to put them inside out and they said no – because we would just switch them around once we got into HHN. Which yeah probably 😂

What frustrated the mom and her friends the most was that they claimed to have seen people wearing inappropriate shirts, but they were not forced to change. She said that one person was even wearing a shirt that said the “f word,” so it didn’t seem that security was being very consistent.

While the majority of comments agreed with Universal security, some felt that the word wasn’t that offensive. They also said that it was silly to think that teenagers don’t use words that are much worse than the one on Suellen’s shirt.

Do you think that the shirt Suellenh73 wore to Halloween Horror Nights was inappropriate? Whose side are you on? Let us know in the comments!
