For a lot of people, the Halloween season begins in September or October. But Disney fans know that the spooky season begins much, MUCH earlier. At Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort, Halloween celebrations actually begin in August!
That means that there is plenty of time to indulge in seasonal treats, enjoy the decorations, and maybe even attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in the Magic Kingdom or Oogie Boogie Bash in Disney California Adventure Park.
Now, the Tokyo Disney Resort — which is not owned by Disney — takes a more conservative approach to Halloween. Halloween season will not begin at the Asian theme park until October 1. And when it does start, there will be a brand-new parade for guests to enjoy! And the best part? There’s no hard-ticketed party, so everyone can enjoy all the Halloween festivities throughout the resort!
When the Halloween season kicks off, the new The Villains Halloween “Into the Frenzy” parade will begin. This new parade will even feature a brand-new character: Dr. Facilier, the villain from the hit Disney animated film The Princess and the Frog (2009), will be making his Tokyo Disney debut!
Here is more information on the exciting new parade:
The Villains Halloween “Into the Frenzy” parade will feature Mickey Mouse and friends alongside iconic Disney villains, including Maleficent, Jafar and Dr. Facilier, making his debut at Tokyo Disney Resort. The high-energy parade will feature 6 exciting new floats and show-stops where guests will be invited to dance to energetic Halloween music with Mickey and friends.
The Halloween parade will stop in the Westernland and Fantasyland area, the Plaza, and again in the
Tomorrowland and Toontown areas of the parade route. Dedicated viewing areas will also be available for Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Package holders and guests who purchase Disney Premier Access.
The Into the Frenzy parade is not the only exciting thing happening during Halloween at Tokyo Disney. Every night (weather permitting), the skies above Cinderella Castle will light up with the “Night High Halloween” fireworks spectacular. And just like the Disneyland attraction, Tokyo Disney’s Haunted Mansion will get a Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) overlay and become Haunted Mansion Holiday.
There will also be a number of specialty food and drink offerings, but those will actually come to the resort early. Some of the Halloween dining options will materialize at Tokyo Disney as early as September 1!

Lastly, Disney would not be Disney if it didn’t sell some incredible themed merchandise. Much of the Halloween merchandise will hit the parks on September 19. Villains and ghosts will be featured on the seasonal merchandise, and includes popcorn buckets, snack containers, cookies, stuffed animals, t-shirts, Minnie ears, and more.
