Disneyland Resort has temporarily closed Broken Spell Lounge at the Disneyland Hotel for refurbishment, taking the Sleeping Beauty-inspired bar out of service during one of the resort’s busiest seasonal periods. The Broken Spell Lounge closure comes in the middle of Halloween Time, when Disneyland is promoting seasonal food, drinks, entertainment, and hotel experiences across the Anaheim resort.
Disney’s official Broken Spell Lounge page currently states that the location is “closed for refurbishment” and directs guests to check back for updates. Disney does not currently list a reopening date on that page, meaning reports that the lounge will return in late October should not yet be treated as an officially confirmed reopening announcement.
Disneyland’s Broken Spell Lounge Goes Dark During Halloween Time
The timing makes this more than a routine hotel dining refurbishment. Disneyland Resort’s 2026 Halloween Time celebration runs from August 21 through October 31, according to Disney’s official Halloween announcement, with seasonal offerings extending beyond Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure into the resort hotels.
Disney specifically promoted Halloween-inspired cocktails at Broken Spell Lounge as part of that lineup. Its 2026 Halloween Foodie Guide listed three seasonal cocktails — The Dark Heart, Three Witches, and Green-eyed Sceptre — as available at the lounge from August 21 through November 12. With the lounge now closed, those advertised offerings are temporarily unavailable there while refurbishment work continues.
That lands during an especially competitive Halloween season. Every standard Oogie Boogie Bash date eventually sold out, underscoring how much demand surrounds fall evenings at Disneyland Resort.
The Disneyland Hotel Lounge Is Still Relatively New
Broken Spell Lounge only officially debuted on October 21, 2024. The location transformed the former hotel lobby lounge into a more heavily themed space drawing inspiration from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Sleeping Beauty.
Inside the Magic covered the opening of Broken Spell Lounge when Disney introduced the forest-inspired setting, cocktails, and expanded food selection. That makes the current refurbishment notable: the venue hasn’t yet reached its second anniversary.
Disney’s current Disneyland Hotel dining directory continues to list Broken Spell Lounge alongside Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill, Goofy’s Kitchen, The Coffee House, and Palm Breeze Bar.
It also isn’t the first notable lounge refurbishment at the hotel this year. Trader Sam’s underwent refurbishment in 2026, temporarily affecting another popular evening destination.
What the Closure Means for Magic Key Holders and Evening Visitors
There is no evidence that Disneyland is restricting access to the Disneyland Hotel lobby as part of this refurbishment, and the closure should not be characterized as a Magic Key holder lockout. What has changed is the availability of one hotel destination that can be particularly useful for guests looking to extend an evening beyond the parks.
That distinction matters during Oogie Boogie Bash season. On party nights, regular Disney California Adventure operations end early as the park transitions to the separately ticketed event; Disney Dining previously detailed that evening transition. Hotel restaurants and lounges can therefore become alternatives for visitors who aren’t attending the party.
Magic Key holders also have a more tangible reason to notice the closure. Disney’s official Magic Key discount page lists Broken Spell Lounge among participating dining locations, with eligible discounts varying by pass type. The refurbishment temporarily removes that particular dining option from their choices.
Dining costs are already a sensitive subject for frequent Disneyland visitors. Inside the Magic recently reported on price increases across several Disneyland table-service locations, including Broken Spell Lounge.
Other Disneyland Hotel Dining Options Remain
The closure does not mean Disneyland Hotel has lost all of its evening food and beverage options. Disney continues to list Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, Tangaroa Terrace, Goofy’s Kitchen, Palm Breeze Bar, and other locations on the hotel’s dining page.
For guests specifically seeking another themed lounge, Trader Sam’s is the most obvious alternative. The location offers its Jungle Cruise-inspired environment alongside cocktails and food, although availability and operating conditions should always be checked before visiting.
The broader resort also remains deep into its Halloween programming. Disneyland’s seasonal calendar includes Halloween Time through October 31, while Plaza de la Familia continues at Disney California Adventure through November 2.
Disney Has Not Confirmed Exactly When the Spell Will Break
The biggest unanswered question is the reopening date.
Disney currently confirms that Broken Spell Lounge is temporarily closed for refurbishment, but the official lounge page does not specify when that work will end. While operating-calendar information reported elsewhere points toward a possible late-October return, Disney has not published that date in the refurbishment notice itself. Guests planning around Broken Spell Lounge should therefore continue checking Disney’s official listing rather than treating a late-October reopening as guaranteed.
That uncertainty is particularly important because Disney originally advertised Broken Spell Lounge’s Halloween cocktails through November 12. If the venue returns before Halloween ends, guests could still have a window to experience the seasonal menu.
For now, however, one of Disneyland Hotel’s newest themed lounges remains under refurbishment during the heart of the resort’s Halloween season — and Disney has yet to say officially when guests will be able to step back inside.
