Disneyland Begins Removing Regular Guests From California Adventure, Effective Today

Disneyland Resort guests can still visit Disney California Adventure today, but some won’t be staying nearly as late as they might expect.

August 18 marks the opening night of Oogie Boogie Bash for 2026. With the separately ticketed Halloween event beginning at 6:00 p.m., regular guests will have to wrap up their day at Disney California Adventure early.

After that point, the park belongs to Oogie Boogie Bash ticket holders.

It’s a change visitors will need to remember throughout the next several months because Disney will repeat the process on select nights through Halloween.

Regular Admission Won’t Get You Into California Adventure Tonight

For most of August 18, Disney California Adventure remains a regular theme park.

Guests can enter with valid admission, experience attractions and enjoy their day as usual.

The situation changes in the evening.

Oogie Boogie Bash officially runs from 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Because it’s a separately ticketed event, regular park admission doesn’t grant access to those five hours.

Guests who don’t have party tickets must leave as regular park operations end.

Likewise, anyone showing up at Disney California Adventure at 6:00 p.m. can’t simply scan a regular ticket and head inside for the night.

That entrance is reserved for guests with valid Oogie Boogie Bash admission.

Sold-Out Parties Make the Restriction Even More Important

Normally, learning about a separately ticketed event at the last minute might leave guests with another option: buy a ticket.

That won’t always work during Oogie Boogie Bash season.

Multiple dates have already sold out.

The latest reported additions to the sold-out list included August 20 and 27, September 1, and October 13, 20, and 29.

Other dates had already reached capacity before those parties joined the list.

For guests visiting on one of those nights, there’s no last-minute solution if party tickets remain unavailable.

Once regular operations end, Disney California Adventure is effectively off limits unless you already secured event admission.

Oogie Boogie Bash Guests Can Actually Enter Early

While regular guests lose access in the evening, Oogie Boogie Bash ticket holders get an added benefit.

Disney allows event guests to enter Disney California Adventure beginning at 3:00 p.m., three hours before the official party starts. They don’t need a separate theme park reservation to use that 3:00 p.m. entry benefit.

That creates a three-hour period when daytime visitors and party guests share the park.

Then comes the 6:00 p.m. cutoff.

From that point until 11:00 p.m., Oogie Boogie Bash takes over with Halloween entertainment, immersive treat trails, attractions and other special offerings.

More Early Closures Are Coming

The biggest thing Disneyland visitors should know is that this isn’t limited to opening night.

Oogie Boogie Bash takes place on select dates throughout August, September, and October. Disney California Adventure closes to regular guests at 6:00 p.m. on party nights.

That makes checking the schedule an important part of planning a Disneyland Resort visit over the next several months.

A guest expecting to enter Disney California Adventure after dinner could instead find the gates unavailable for regular admission. Someone already inside could lose several hours they expected to have for attractions.

Oogie Boogie Bash remains one of Disneyland Resort’s biggest Halloween events, and the growing list of sold-out nights shows the demand surrounding it.

But you don’t have to be attending the party for it to affect your vacation.

Beginning today, 6:00 p.m. becomes a very important time at Disney California Adventure. On Oogie Boogie Bash nights, regular guests will be heading out while party guests settle in for the night.
