In 2023, we began celebrating 100 years of The Walt Disney Company — a truly historic achievement. Walt Disney moved from his small hometown of Marceline, Missouri to Los Angeles, California, with nothing more than a suitcase and a dream. That dream came to life, and he created one of the most iconic companies to ever exist. The Walt Disney Company has changed the film industry, the theme park industry, and the lives of fans around the world.
As part of Disney’s 100th Anniversary celebration, Walt Disney Animation Studios released its newest movie, Wish. Wish starred Ariana DeBose as Asha, a young woman living in the Kingdom of Rosas, where wishes really do come true. King Magnifico collects every person’s wish, and then picks whose wishes come true. But Asha discovers that, if Magnifico doesn’t want them to come true, they never will, and the people will never get their wishes back.

Asha makes a wish so powerful that the wishing star actually comes down to help her and her goat Valentino take down King Magnifico.
Wish premiered in theaters on November 22, 2023, and didn’t perform as well as Disney had hoped. However, many fans still want to watch Wish, leading them to constantly wonder when the movie will hit Disney+.

For quite a while after the pandemic, Disney would release a movie in theaters and then, 45 days later, the movie would be available to stream on Disney+. Disney has recently been extending that time frame, and there is now no set streaming date for movies. Wish would have come to Disney+ on January 6 if they followed the old streaming release model.
However, the film site Bam Smack Pow is estimating that fans could be able to stream Wish as early as next week!
A lot of fans expected Wish to come to Disney+ in February. But Disney released The Marvels in mid-February, so they may have wanted to hold off on releasing Wish around the same time.
With Wish not dropping in February, it’s looking likely that we should see Wish arrive on Disney+ during the first week of March. Considering Disney+ adds new movies on Wednesday, this means we should see Wish debut on Disney+ on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, which would honestly be perfect for Disney as it would give families a new movie to enjoy on Disney+ at the beginning of March and ahead of spring break when kids are at home and parents are looking for something new they can watch.
Now, it is important to remember that this is just an estimated release date. Disney has not confirmed anything, although we hope they will soon! We want to be able to watch Wish to our heart’s content!
When Wish finally becomes available to stream, pay careful attention to all the wonderful details the animators included. Paying homage to 100 years of Disney magic, the movie will feature more than 100 “legacy nods”!
In addition to Ariana DeBose, Wish also stars Chris Pine as King Magnifico, Alan Tudyk as Valentino, Jennifer Kumiyama as Dahlia (Asha’s best friend), and Angelique Cabral as Queen Amaya.
Disney Dining will let readers know when Wish finally becomes available to stream!
